My son is 5 months old. He was diagnosed of eczema (Atopic Dermatitis) when he was 3 months old.

Earlier the redness was noticeable only on his eyebrows, eyelids, cheeks upper lip area, nose, outer ear It was all irritable. In summers, with switching on the air-conditioner he used to feel better and reddening used to diminish. We tried using Elocon (prescribed by the dermatologist) and also gave Atarax drops for a while but it used to again flare up with a weather change and humidity level going up.

For the past week, red patches have been noticed around the back of the neck, his trunk (chest and stomach)also.

His anus also has developed rash, inspite of continuous use of Mothercare rash cream or Betadine Dust Powder and Micoderm Powder as prescribed by doctor (seemed like diaper rash).

We are bathing him with Oilatum non - scented soap and use Vitaderm moisturizer immediately (within 3 minutes) after bath. It relieves him a bit but doesn't reduce the puffiness or the redness.

We have now also started putting 3-4 drops of coconut oil in the bucket full of warm water.

His scratching is more at night or when he is sleepy or when he is being bottle fed with formula milk - Lactogen

He is very irritable, restless and cries a lot because of contunuous scratching and therefore doesn't even like to eat or drink anything. Its very tough to make him drink milk.

Infact i have given up on Cerelac Rice as he is howling and scratching most of the time during feeds.

He was breast fed for only 3 months as I had to join back office. Ever since then he has been on Lactogen Formula 1 and for the past 2 weeks on Nestle Rice (Add Water) Starter Cereal

Could you suggest us a non steroid treatment or a naturopathy or homeopathy treatment for this ailment. srinaren replied. My son also had eczema...we found out that he was allergic to soy. So take a blood test to find out what your son is allergic to..

Atopic dermatistis is extreme dry skin so you should not apply powder....try applying vaseline on his skin soon after you give him a bath (within 3 minutes)while the skin is still moist..
Try to apply the vaseline when u see your son's skin is dry...

Try using Dove or cetaphil soap which has moisture in it. My son's doctor prescribed eczema oil for him which I'm still using it has helped him a lot.

Hey i think ur son is allergic to milk.i.e formula.he was okay when he was breat fed rite.consult ur Doc.i think its milk allergy.stop giving formulas and Cereals which contains MIlk (Lactogen). try to give him Soy formula.
