hi all..

this is kala and i am from the sep board. talking of weight gain - i have actually not gained any weight at all till date and EDD is Sep 3 !!! (am in 30th week now ) in fact i had reduced one kg in the first three months due to excessive nausea and dint regain after that..though the doctor assures (had a scan two weeks back) that the baby is fine with 920 gms weight , am getting worried reading the posts and the gain pattern everybody is going through..pls let me know if there is any concern..i ve always been on the higher side of weight and my doctor says that this might probably be a reason for not gaining wt..pls reply..
P.S - I go to office still and also go for morning walks religiously..dont know if this could be a reason..

Regards,
Kala

Hi Vidhi,

You should not be worried about it. The only thiing is just watch your diet a little bit and do not have lots of fats.

I am 5' 2' ' and my starting wt was 137 pounds. One of the doctors (I go to a group of 5 docs) said that I should be gaining upto 25 pounds. So far I have already gained 21 pounds (i.e 9.5 kgs), which I think is good now. I did start watching my diet after the doctor' s advise so as not to eat a lot of fact, I started having 2% or fat milk etc..but when I saw the other doctor, she said that my wt gain is normal.

I think that we should def watch what we eat and not eat everything uncontrollably thinking its pregnancy because ultimately we will have to work hard to loose the excessive wt as the baby is only 6-9 pounds

Take care!
Neeti

hi,

good to know u n ur baby are doing good:-))
I have put on 10 kgs till now. my friends says i have not put on any weight n i dont show much blah blah which used to worry me sometimes. but my doc says im fine n as long as the baby is putting on good weight it does not matter if the mother is gaining weight or not!! even a small framed women can give birth to a 9 pounder! Babys weight also depends on ur genes or how big were u at birth urself etc.. it has nothing to do with ur weight i think.. well, my girl is almost 4.9 pounds now.
pls do not worry bout weight gain at this stage..do try to eat healthy n take brisk walks every day.
take care....n keep smiling...

Hi girls - my 2 cents.....

For 8 pound baby, usually the weight gain will be approximately 45-50 pounds which is 23 kgs!!(as per books....and also i gained the same during my first pregnancy....wherein my son was 8.05 pounds) You reduce the weight immdly after pregnancy but should be really careful after baby cos that is where we put on weight again!!

Plz dont eat fatty foods which increases your weight in the hips and not the baby. eat smart - fruits, salads, green veggies, lots of water, and avoid taking fruits @ night. If taking milk @ night, dont add sugar to it. If taking Horlicks, dont drink with milk.

The weight gain will be more after 36 weeks - 50% of the weight gained during the last 4 weeks goes to baby and 50% to mommy. Walking 1 or 2 km per day is really good. Try to practice it although it is uncomfortable as our tummy grows bigger....

Hope this helps,
Jichi

I am 5´ .3" so far I gained 38 pounds (lil over 17 kgs). And I started with low weight though (105 pounds). I am not sure about my baby´ s weight, its been quite a time had my sono. All are fine.
Jichi....I see your message saying " If taking Horlicks, dont drink with milk" .
May I know why we shouldn´ t take horlicks with milk.

Thank you girls.
Luv to your lil ones
:)

Vidhi,

I have put on a total of 45 lbs already... Have always been little overweight... But am short, only 5' 1... The doc told me that there is nothing to worry about the weight and it only will be a pain to reduce later... Moreover in my last visit my doctor measured the fundal height and said that I measure 1 cm more than it should be... So, she guesses that the baby is bigger than normal at this stage... But she said as long as it is not more than 3 cms, they wouldn' t worry... Not sure about my girl' s weight as I have not had an u/s in some time now... Will have my 4D u/s on 1st July but am sure thwy would not tell me the weight and other things... Trust me, if your doctor is not worried, you can be tension free...

Hope all goes well for you...
