Name: manvi Due to the backlog iam planning to take the slot for my mom in advance.Just wanted to know with her passport still in processing,can i go ahead&book the slot?Any chance of her getting interviewed at Mumbai/Delhi consulate?

I appreciate your quick replies.Well iam going to email tts srvices to find out directly.Anu i sent my parents the link to verify passport status that is really a good idea to keep track.
Wow good for u your parents r coming in sep.
Manisha thnks for the reference.I guess i'll email &then just wait for mom's passport!Meanwhile hope all goes well.

Hi Manvi,

You need passport number to book a slot for interview. In tts servies site, the have given some eligibility criteria to apply for Bomaby/Delhi even though we fall into chennai category. You can go through that site.

In the below site, you can actually check the passport status. This site can tell you if there was any query or status of the passport. But you need to have the passport application number. That usually starts with alphabet and then 6 digit number. Ex: Z500101
I think your mom is in Hyd, so, for hyd here is the site.

My parents got Aug 21st interview date. So, they might come here begenning of sep.

hello manvi

a) in order to get a visa-appt, you need to have a passport-number.
That means, if you have applied for a new-passport, you have to wait till you get it in your hand.

b) you can email to chennai-consulate and ask them if you wish to goto mumbai/delhi consulate.
Chennainiv(AT)state(DOT)gov

3) Again, for the age 60+ criteria, email chennai-consulate and ask them (they will answer promptly).

Just wanted to add..

My mom is a Hyd resident,so officially shld appy thru chennai consulate.
Hey by the way where is the info given that even if 1 of the spouse is above 60yrs both can use drop box.
Bhargavi/Manisha i remember u saying this cld u clarify pls?

Experience Hi all.
I am very happy & relieved tday. I had planned to bring my parents here for my delivery. My dad is 60yrs old (Retired) and mom is 53 yrs. They both qualified for the drop-box and submitted their application on 9th December. After about 2.5 weeks, on Dec 25th they received the courier, asking them for a copy of my passport(all pages) and to schedule a personal interview.
I was obviously nervous, their tickets were booked for 11th Jan, but they got their interview scheduled only for 13th Jan. So tday they went for the interview, they had the 9:45 to 11:00 slot. They reached consulate at about 9:15 am. within 45 mins they were called for the interview.
The consular officer greeted them, and said "so your daughter is in the US " asked my dad "Why do you want visit the country?"
My dad replied "Want to spend some time with my daughter & son -in-law, I also want to visit some places in US for pleasure" he replied "very well".
Glanced thro the docs, and told my mom "your daughter looks exactly like you"
Congratulated them and asked them to remit the visa fees.

Yes Manvi, if both are applying and if ur dad is over 60 then they can use dropbox. U can get Visa in a week then.
My frends inlaws got 10yr mul entry first time itself via drop box from Hyd this month only. Good Luck
