Hi,

I have enter the world of motherhood just recently and I am enjoying it thorougly. I have a son who just 2 months of 24th of this month. He is a happy child. I don't have any problems so far but since last one week I have noticed that he is getting his thumb in mouth and sucking it. When I am around and he is playing he will start sucking his thumb.I am not allowing him to do so to which he donesn't cry. He is not cranky but then he has reduced his sleep during the day. He sleeps for half an hour and then wakes up and stays awake for long. Kindly advise should I allow him to suck his thumb so that he can sleep or discourage him.

well i feel thumb sucking is no way realted to him not having any sleep. I had the same problem with my son, he used to sleep very less til he was about 3 mths old. Then sitn improved by itself with him sleeping continuously for a few hrs at night but still very less during the day at about 4 mths. Now he is 7mths old and things are not that worse. If the baby is active during the time he is awake u need not worry much about the sleep. AS of thumb sucking i have heard if u force babies to remove it from their mouths they take longer to leave this habit. Hence advised pls let him be that way..its most common in babies. However if he has hurt his fingers biting all the time then u can buy mittens from a baby shop that is made of soft cloth and cost around 25/- a pair for the small fists.

Sleep Problem due to itchy skin
My baby girl is unable to sleep properly due to skin rashes. I have resumed oil massages to help calm her down and facilitate better sleep, using CITTA Baby Massage Oil. Additionally, I am applying the ointment recommended by her doctor for the rashes. Could you please provide me with more ideas that can promote better sleep for her?... - Sanchari Tarafdar [View Message]

RE:How to Develop a Sleep Routine for your Newborn
According to me this is good but then you cannot force your child to sleep as per your wish as kids as really bad in this and they have a tendency to sleep in day and get up in late night so according to me this is not the key to success, please post if i am wrong.... - Anita [View Message]
