frequecncy has nothing to do with sex of baby. the ovulation date matters.

Scientific Basis of Sex Planning

Can I plan the s.. of my baby

Recent advances in the field of medicine indicate that it may be possible to plan the baby?s sex. It is also possible to plan for the baby?s sex without any medication or medical intervention. However, couples should keep in mind that both the medical and non-medical methods given below are not fool-proof. They are based on theories and not on facts proved beyond a doubt.

Is there a scientific basis for being able to control the baby?s sex
X and Y chromosomes determine the sx of a child. There are two kinds of sperms ? the ones with the X-chromosomes and the ones with the Y-chromosomes. If the sperm carrying the X-chromosome fertilizes the egg, then the baby will be female. If the sperm carrying the Y-chromosome fertilizes the egg, then the baby will be male.
There is indirect evidence that shows that the male sperms swim faster, are more alkaline, and last for a shorter duration than the female sperm. It follows then that the female sperms swim slower, are more acidic, and last longer (for upto 72 hours) than the male sperm. In addition, some studies indicate that X-sperms appears to be favored by the vagina because vaginal secretions are slightly acidic.
Methods for Planning the Baby?s SX
There are various ways of planning the baby?s sx, some of which are listed below.
(a) Through lotions and creams:
Based on the theory that female sperms are more acidic and male sperms are more alkaline, doctors have devised lotions/creams, which can be applied during intercourse, that essentially kill the unwanted sperms. Therefore if a male child is desired, then the lotion will be more alkaline, in order to neutralize the acidic female sperms. If a female child is desired, the lotion will be more acidic, in order to neutralize the male sperms.

(b) Based on diet:
Following the same principle behind the application of lotions and creams, the woman can modify her diet during the ovulation period to increase the chances of conceiving either a male baby or a female baby, depending on her preference. If she desires a female child, she should modify her diet in favor of more acidic foods (those high in salt), since this would help in neutralizing the alkaline male sperm. If she desires a male child, she should restrict her intake of salt, since they would make the vagina more acidic and neutralize the more alkaline male sperm. Note that while this method is far from perfect, it is probably the least invasive.

(c) By timing the intercourse:
Scientists hypothesize that the sperm with the Y-chromosome swims faster, but lasts for a shorter duration, whereas the sperm carrying the X-chromosome swims slower but can last for close to 72 hours. On this basis, one can plan the timing of the intercourse to conceive a baby of the desired sex. If the preference is for a male baby, then the couple should plan to have intercourse at the peak of the ovulation period. They should also refrain from making love for at least 5 days before ovulation.
If the preference is for a female child, then the couple should make love roughly 3 days before ovulation, and then not have any intercourse for the next few days. One can improve the chances of having a child of the preferred sex by combining this method with the diet method.

(d) Frequency of the intercourse:
If a female child is desired, then the couple should have intercourse frequently so that the proportion of male sperms in the semen is reduced. On the other hand, if a male child is desired, then the couple should not engage in frequent intercourse as some doctors believe this decreases the proportion of male sperms. This method is most effective when combined with correctly timing the intercourse. (Note: Doctors seem to differ on the frequency of intercourse for choosing the baby´ s sex)
