Hi,

I haven't yet decided a name for my baby girl and going mad over it. Is anyone in the same situation. I cannot imagine thinking of two names if I didn't know the gender of the baby.

I haven't introduced myself officially, but here I am. I live in the Bay Area and this is my first baby due on 11/25.

Babli and Vindhya, I live in the bay area too. I used to live in Berkeley but we moved to Pinole which is about 10 miles to Berkeley.

Simmi, Milan is a nice name. I dont know about the UK but I am imagining the uniquely strange ways in which people here in the US of A will call him. :)

Simmi replied. Welcome aboard Vindhya. I too am confused about baby names. Don't know the gender but know that we have to decide b4 D-Day since we too have to register with authorities asap. Unlike my friend in India who has not named her son officially who is 2 mths old!! Anyways, I like the few suggestions you have made to each other. Avi, like you even I would prefer simple and short names, but my hubby dearest is only decided on boys' name, Milan, I am not so keen on that! And for girl, there is no agreement neither. I thought you liked the name Arshiya for your girl (if the little one inside turns out to be girl). Jia is beautiful too. I like Mia too.

Vindhya, I do like the name Sia too (you must have figured out by now, I have a bias toward 2 letter names for girls - mia, ria, sia, jia ) :)
I am sure you will figure something out soon.

I dont think we will be able to name the baby according to his/her star cause we cant name our kids as leisurely as they do in India (I couldn't believe that fact that my cousin took a week to name her kid after he was born :) ). Like you said, we need to give the hospital a name soon after the baby is born.

So, we have to pick one before the D-day. I am due anytime between the 12th and 14th of Nov.

We are also looking for names and I have looked for so many names, couldn't decide yet.
Avi, I also finally decided with Arnav and Aryan (not arya in my case:) and I like Jia for a girl.
I think we both have similar taste:)

I am having the same problem trying to come up with atleast a shortlist of names but have been procrastinating as of today. I have seen close to a 1000 names on the web but I cant make up my mind.

So far, I like the names Arnav and Arya for a boy and Ria and Maya for a girl.

Radhika's posting on the Oct board about how she and her husband came pretty close to making a decision was very interesting. Have you read that???

I had no idea that it would be this hard to come up with one name. You still have a little more than 3 months to go though so do it one day at a time with your husband/significant other.
