Hi everyone, I'm a new member, please join me in sharing my excitement, experience and feelings towards each moment as it approaches towards the EDD. Mine is August 11, 2003. I'm yet to believe that soon I'm gonna be Mom' In the early pregnancy I was not convinced even that I'm pregnant inspite of all the positive tests. It was only when I had gone for ultrasound and seen the baby with my hubby. It was a very different feeling for us. I can't even describe that very first moment when by seeing a glance at me baby I started crying, I don't know what will happen when I'll get to see the baby in my hands. Touchwood I didn't had morning sickness. Just a little bodyach and blocked nose do trouble me. Anyone wanna share the feeling of having first sight at the baby durinf ultrasound ???

Baby2Mommy replied. Hello Monika, Rucha.....and all August mommies,
How are you all doing? Hope everything is going great with your pregnancy. With me it's. I had my second U/S done this week. The baby was very active, waved hands and legs and infact at one point we saw the baby yawning too. Me and hubby were very excited to see the baby this clearly. On top of that, we found that this time we are having a boy baby. Since we already have a girl at home it happened to be Perfect. Everything is God's Grace, what else can I say. But it was true that I shed few happy tears when I was told that it's going to be a Boy!. Thank you God.
Take care ladies. Enjoy your pregnancy!
Baby2Mommy replied. Hi Rucha,
Thanks for your concern. I think the reasones for me to get cold and cough very often are, 1. weather and 2. my little one. Whenever you have a little one at home they bring germs back home from School and because you stay closer this kid, you too get it soon when your resistance power is low.
In my first pregnancy I didn't get even a single time this cough and cold problem. But now, 3 times so far. : (
Anyway, I am trying to stay away from all cold items (though I love ice cream and cold drinks) so that I will stay fit. I still have the scratchy feeling in my throat. Drinking hot water, Orange Juice. Let's see.
Baby2Mommy replied. Hi Monika,
Thanks for the suggestion you made to get rid of my cold& cough. I sure will try it and see how is works. I too wanted to recover from this naturally rather than taking medicines. Once again thanks.
How is your Maternity shopping going on? What kind of dresses do you wear for work? Because you are in India, if you can wear 'Salwar' to work, I would say that will be a convenient outfit during pregnancy. But if your work requires you to wear only the 'Business attire' than you are out of luck. You need to get those Maternity Pants and Shirts, correct! Anyway, just a thought. But I know some places are OK on the casual dresses and some offices are very strict on their dress code.
One more thing, Monika. If you don't mind Can I go with the nickname, Baby2Mommy itself. This is because I would like to use the name I picked. And also to avoid confusion for the other people as I am still signing as baby2Mommy and you using my real name. They all must be wondering Sujatha?!, Who is she? Am I Correct?!! Let me know, what you think.
I saw two new people on the other board, ‘Baby Movements’ and the remaining seems to be quite.
OK everyone. You all take care and enjoy your pregnancy. Bye.
Monika replied. Hi Sujatha,
The best solution for cold & cough is steam inhalation. When I had a blocked nose due to the recently developed sinus during my pregnancy, I was told by the Doc that you can ONLY take steam inhalations as many as 3-4 times a day, as I had lot of cough. Believe me it actually worked out for me and now I can say that throughout the day I can breath normal but yes at night I have to use nasal drops to sleep. And that is also because I have stopped taking Steam for a past 1 month or so. . . . So, don't be lazy like me and do it regularly for an odd 15 days and you will see the difference. Otherwise these medicines just dry the cough and it remains there, so it is better to get rid of it naturally :)
Orange juice is anyway good and specially during pregnancy. Even I'm taking regularly. That reminds me I have to place an order for it...
Buck-up everyone and say something......
baby2Mommy replied. Hi everyone, good to see you all in this board sharing all you feelings. In a short time this friends group has grown to big one and am happy about it.
Hi Monika,
As per you concerns on the baby movements, I hope you have read my comments in the other board, 'Baby Movements'. so, don't worry.
Things are going fine except I think I am going to catch cold&cough once again. : (
I really don't want that to come again as I already suffered twice in the last 1 1/2 month period with same symptoms. Any suggestions? ( I am taking Orange juice almost everyday.)
About the cloth sizes, No I am not able to fit in my regular cloths anymore. I was able to till the second week in March. But now, I am wearing only maternity outfits everyday to work. Check the 'Maternity Cloths' board to know more on that topic.
Happy shopping and Enjoy!
Monika replied. Hi Rani,
Yeap, I'm glad that we all are active in this group and thats actually how it gives an immense pleasure to talk to other group members / friends who are on a similar platform and share our feelings.
I'm little upset as my baby's movements hvn't started yet and after reading everybody's responses I'm more keen on when will mine start. Sometimes I just lie-down quitely to see and feel that something is going to hapen but :(
My Doc. has also told me that it will take 1-2 weeks more so lets see...... I think the baby wants to show its importance....... hmm........
I have an appointment in the 2nd week of April with my Doc for regular monthly check-up so I'm gonna ask this qs once again. The last time when I had asked her she said no the radiologist's is saying this because there is always a difference of two week between ones last Menstrual cycle and the time when one actually conceive. So, my EDD will not get affected. But still I'll confirm once again with her as all of you are actually ahead of me as far as the baby's movements are concerned....
And the surprising part is that they have not changed my EDD. Anyway, we have to actually go as per the Doc's advice.........
What else is happening ????? Are you people fitting in your regular clothings or not ??? I'm planning to go for shopping this weekend to get some new cloths with large size....:)
One question to all the Mummys who have started feeling Baby's movements :
How many times in a day do you feel your baby moving up & down ........ round & round ......... right & left ...
TAKE CARE & ENJOY.....
Rani replied. Hi there....
Good to see so much of response in this board.I started feeling the baby movemnets when i was approaching 20 weeks.Initially the movements were very gentle. But after one week the movements became little more prominent.Good to enjoy that feeling. And another thing is one day i didn't feel the movements at all for 2 days.I got scared and went to the hospital. The baby was ok.The Doc said, sometimes the baby moves to a position which we can't feel.
Hi Monika...
I live in US.The delivary will be in the same Hospital which I go for regular checkups now.So no need to enroll seperately for that.Hey...I don't understand that how your EDD doesn't change even though you are 2 weeks overdue.Because in my case it changed.Initially they had given my EDD as July 28th.But after Ultrasound, as per the baby growth they said am 2 weeks overdue and changed my due date by 2 weeks..that is August 13th.Anyways we have to go as per the Doc says.
Have fun and enjoy
Monika replied. Hi Sujatha,
Baby2mummy is a real cute name. Have read about the baby's movements from the other mail. I have one qs. for you. When did you started feeling the baby's movements, the first time you got pregnant. As someone told me that during ur first preg. you get to feel it in the 6th months and during the second preg. you will feel it in the begining of 5th months itself. Do you remember ?????
Good to know that your hubby shares your load at home. And also I feel its good when your parents and specially when your mom is around during the EDD because as far as I'm concerned since childhood whenever I have had any injury I always use to call my Mom for care & support. Her name even todays comes first from my month whenever I see any problem. And I have already told my mom that she should be with me in the hospital all the time. She has always been a source of inspiration for me. So, I'm glad for you also that ur parents are going to be with you specially when u are staying in a diff. place. Hey Sujatha, where exactly do you stay ???
When is your 2nd U/S due ??? I'm now not bothered about the sex of my child whatever it is let is come as a surprise :)
Anyone, started yet with the baby's movements !!!!?????!!!!!
TAKE CARE EVERYBODY !

Baby2Mommy replied. Hi Monika, Good to see your big reply to everyone in the group. Me too, visiting this page after a week or so. BTW, my name is Sujatha. Because on one site (in a message board) I started with a nickname of baby2Mommy (denoting a mom-to-be with a second child) I thought of continuing it simply for the reason I just liked the nickname.
Like I stated before, Since I am working and already have a toddler at home it's kind of getting busy at times. But my husband is very kind and understanding. He helps me at home. So, I am able to manage things right. ( Here is US, only you and your hubby are there to do all house-hold works. No other help. ) For the delivery we are going to invite my parents, of course. First my Mom alone will come as my dad is still working in India, he can take only few months vacation. So the plan is to ask my Mom to come first and then later my Dad will join her.
Nice to read about your U/S experience. I can't wait to go for mine. I can understand your feeling for finding the gender of the baby. But surprise is also good you know, especially with the first one. Keep guessing till you have your baby!
Thanks for the concerns you showed about my fever and cold, cough. The fever doesn't go very high (100.5) max. But the cough was the one which really bothered me and now I am OK after taking medicine. Hopefully it shouldn't affect me atleast after now. Let's hope for the best. OK, Monika. Take care and do keep in touch.
Monika replied. Hi Gals,
I'm extremely happy to see the kind of response we have got from all over different places as today I nearly accessed this message board after 10 days, but with the kind of responses we are getting I think it is feasible to access it every day. Am I right Baby2MummY(don't know ur name yet!!) see we two started chatting about our experience and now its a large group !!!
Welcome Everyone !!!! & lets hare more thoughts.........
Hi Rani, U are just 2 days behind mine EDD. Have you booked urself in any hospital for the delivery. I have already booked Holy family Hosp, as I stay in New Friends Colony and it is the most convenient Hosp. for me and have also heard a lot about the hosp. and also I have been quite satisfied with their serices. Rani, I'm also running thru' the same confusion as you about the delay of 2 weeks. Ideally by now I'm 21 weeks preg. but the Radiologist says that I'm just 19 weeks preg. as per the baby's growth and also to the fact tat I always had delayed periods. Though I don't know the logic but my EDD is not getting effected by this. Actually we should say that we are months pregnant. Right! :)
Hi Again Baby2Mummy,
Yes, I'm a working girl, I work as an Asst. manager - HR in a Private company in Delhi. This is my first preg. & I don't have much work once I reach home and specially in India u get support from the Domestic help & parents. So, not much workload really...... But I stay active all the time. Tell u about my experience of 2nd U/S this time :
The baby was lying straight as if relaxing on a beach. I can see the face, eyes, heart, spines, legs, hands, fingers, feet etc. The feets with smal thunb and fingers were really cute. And then the baby tried to got us and kept right hand on thai. I movement was too good that I kept on laughing all the time. The Radiologist noticed that the baby has a very sharp nose....... which is rare... But u guys in US are lucky that you can get the info. about the gender of a child in the u/s. Here its illegal.... pathetic..... anyway, let it be surprise......
Regarding the illness, Yes I think that most of my preg. illness problems are getting over in the 5th month like Satya. No blocked nose....... No headaches....... but urs is like bad...... are u having continuous fever and how high does it go ???? Dear I have red it soemwhere that cont. high fever is no good. So, keep a track and put cold strips in your head to reduce the heat level.
Hi Charu,
I'm getting everything done from Holy family. Its a very good hospital, neat & clean and the Doctors are also too good. In delhi I don;t think so that any U/S Center will give this option of recording video tape. Where do you stay in Delhi ??? And have you booked the hospital for EDD ??? Are you working somewhere ?? Tell me more about u.
Take care everyone & would like to see more messages...... till then Bye & Love....
Charu replied. Hi Monica
We just had our second u/s two weeks back. Was not prepared for the suprise .. the baby was actually happily moving about... waving... sucking his thumb... and opening and closing mouth... it was a lovely feeling. I didn't know it was an option to take a video cassette along...
Where r u getting your u/s done ? I am in Delhi too and my gynae asked me to go to Khurana's in Def Col.
By the way, I did enquire about the sex of the baby but they refused to disclose it. both of us are really keen to find out...
All the best for your u/s and do share your experience...

baby2Mommy replied. Welcome to this borad Rani. Congratulations on your pregnancy. Yes, it's very nice to have group of net friends to share your feelings/thoughts.
Hi Monika,
I am also in the same boat with you!. This Saturday I will be completing my 20th week. I feel sometimes, how fast these weeks were gone. We have exactly half of the pregnancy to go. So let's enjoy every minute of it which I am, except at those times when i am feeling sick. For me the problem I have is the cough, cold and fever. Last month also I got once this and I waited a week for it to go with the help of some countertop medicines (Tylenol Flu). But this time it's severe. I got antibiotics from my doctor to get a cure from it. This is the thing which is bothering me right now.
Monika, Are you a working woman too? Here, since I am working and also have a little toddler at home I feel all the time I am busy and at the end of the night I feel really tired and ready to hop into bed. Which is good in one way, I think. So that I will not have that sleeping problem. Also this tight schedule makes you stay active which is good especially if you are not doing any exercises separately.
Take care eveyrone. More later.........
Rani replied. Hi everyone..Iam a new member and am also an August mom.My due date is August 13th.This is my first pregnancy. I came to know abt this site recently in google search!.It is really helpful to have a club like this so that we can share our happiness and problems.Iam 19 weeks pregnant now.I had my U/S last week.It was really good to see the baby.I was so excited.Actually i had 2 Ultrasounds. There was difference in the due date by 2 weeks.Initially they did the U/S when i was actually 16weeks, but as per their prediction i was 18 weeks at that time.In the U/S,they came to know that iam only 16weeks, So they did it again after 2 weeks since it is done b/n 18-20 weeks. Coz the baby was facing down in the 2nd U/S.So couldn't see it properly. In the first U/S, the experience was too good.It was always showing up its hands, waving. That was really filling.I still remember those moments.
bye for now and take care.
Monika replied. Hi,
So, you are in US...... Whats ur name ? My U/S is due next week. The Dr. said that I have to get it done between 18-20 weeks. As per her calculation I'm in Week 19. Sometimes I feel glad to know that I have gone thru' half of my preg. period. 20 weeks I'm gonna complete coming sunday. What about u ?? This week infact the problem with my blocked nose is also getting over (it seems) not completely, but yes at least during the day time I can breath thru my nose not very easily but still I can manage. Do you have any such problems / discomforts. Otherwise, touchwood...... I'm not having any problem as such...
We are planning to take along the handycam' when we'll go for U/s. As I think that the hospital people will not do video casseette recording for us. Lets see......... I'll give you a reply about my this time experience...... Ok. Wishing you & ur family a very Happy Holi.......
Take care..
Baby2Mommy replied. Hi Monika,
Good to read your reply in this board where we two seem to be the only people so far sharing our thoughts/feelings.
Anyway, my next U/S scheduled for next month on 11th. I am not staying in Delhi. I am in US. Here it's a standard procedure that you will be asked to bring an empty video cassatee on your second U/S checkup and can record the baby's movements in it. I can't wait to go for that appt. As per the baby's gender, with my first one we didn't find out. Because both my hubby and I thought it would be more fun to wait till the baby is born to know the gender of the baby. Kind of having a surprise to you, you know. So we waited and we had a lovely baby girl. This time we both thought of finding it beforehand mainly because we wanted to tell our little one whether she is going to have a baby brother or baby sister! Either one is fine by us as long as I have a healthy baby and normal delivery. But at the same time as I was blessed to born and grow up with an elder brother I thought it will be nice if my daughter too get a brother to get the same experience of what I got. So, like you had mentioned in your message I will be more than thankful to God if I get a boy this time. Here in USA, disclosing the baby's gender is not illegal. In fact they ask you first whether you want to know. If you don't (like me in the first time) they don't let you know. If you say yes, then they will give you the news. OK, Monika. Hope I have answered all your questions/doubts. More later.....Take care and do keep in touch.
A quick tip: When you are replying click on the 'Reply to original message' link so that your answer will stay on top always.
Baby2Mommy replied. Hi Monika,
I am also an August Mommy like you. My Expected due date is Aug 9th, 2003. This is my second child. It was totally true how you feel after the first U/S of your baby. Even I felt the same way not only with my first one but this time too. I was thinking at my early stage as I have gone thru this once before I am going to take it east this time as I know everything by now. Boy!, I was wrong. In my first U/S with this preganncy I felt so excited after seeing the baby moving/waving hands as if saying 'Hi' to us.(me and my husband). I felt so moved inside, you know. Oh, that's the feeling of Motherhood. I have my next U/S, the big one which can determine the sex of the baby next month and I can't wait to have that one. In that they even record the baby movements for you in a video tape. When is your next one scheduled? BTW, Are you guys going to find out the sex of the baby?!! Good luck and Take care.

Hi,
So, you are in US......
Take care..

Hi Monika,
Good to read your reply in this board where we two seem to be the only people so far sharing our thoughts/feelings.

Hi Monika,
I am also an August Mommy like you.

Hi !
Good to know that you are also travelling on the same boat. My EDD is 11th Aug. I'll have my 2nd U/S in the 25th Week, so still have one month to go. When is ur 2nd U/S due ?? And yes, Have you booked / enrolled ur self in any hospital yet ??? I have booked myself in Holy Family. What are your plans ??? And are u also staying in Delhi ? Did you had normal delivery earlier ? As such I don't have any thoughts in mind for the baby's gender but yes from my childhood I always wanted that one should have an elder brother as I didn't had any elder brother so, may be if I'm blessed with a boy than I'll be more than thankful to GOD !! by the way what are ur expectations ?? You said something about recording baby's movements during the U/S, how can we ask for that ?? I mean, do we have to carry a video tape alongwith us or can we just make a request that we want the movements to be recorded. Will they do it for us ???? One more thing, is it not illegal to disclose the gender of the baby during U/S. What I know is that they don't tell u the gender even if you request them. Did u got to know last time during 1st preg. Yaar, I'm very very excited about all this but when it comes to the final delivery part it makes me feel scared.
