HI all!
I read many posts that refer to experiences of abuse and I just wanted to share something that some living in the US could find useful.
I worked as an abuse/trauma-counselor in the US. Nearly every city, especially if you' re living in a big one, will have domestic abuse resources, many of them are FREE. They are very earnest about confidentiality and will help women develop a \" Safety Plan\" - again something highly confidential and very useful to your specific situation. Even if you are not sure if your partner is abusive towards you, see a counselor, just to talk to someone. Since it' s free, you might just get some education and understand how you can better respond and take care of yourself.
You can google \" domestic violence\" with your state name and see resources in your county/state.
Don' t ever think a counselor would consider that you' re not in such as bad position as to require counselling. Please always feel free to check in with a trauma counselor no matter how slight your fear. Even a phone-call will make all the difference.
I have an ethical responsibility not to counsel people online. I feel bad and apologize for not being able to address individual situations. But I' m happy to investigate resources for you and I only hope some day soon, we have such resources available to women in India as well.
Be well! Stay safe.
PS: Please note that I' m not advertising here and I don' t work with trauma clients currently.
