Due Date Club January 2004:Back pain
2003-08-18
Name: Sita

I am in my 19th week now, since past couple of weeks I am having backpain towards the end of the day. I know some of my friends had same problem but in a much later stage(in 8th month). Is this normal? Should I take any precautions? Any suggestions to get away with the pain would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello,

I am in my 21st week. I also get back pain and pain in my legs when i stand and work for longer duration. I am a working lady and have to sit in front of PC in the office. I normally take short breaks after an hour. I find it most difficult when I have to work in kitchen after attending office.

Thanks for your message, Ritu.I have exactly the same problem. My feet ache when I am in kitchen afer getting back from work.I even use foot massager(spa machine) to get relief sometimes when the pain is very severe.
Best wishes to you.

Hi Sita,

I am also in my 19th week right now and I get a lot of back pain. When I asked the doctor, she said that I should do a little walking (since I sit in front of the PC all day) in between - at least once every hour. She also suggested to get back massages and apply sports gel if it gets too bad. If you are at home, I think you should try to lie down for a while when it gets worst and if you are working like me, then maybe take a walk every hour and that should help. Also get a comfortable chair with back rest.
Hope this helps! Have a happy and healthy pregnancy

Ami

Thankyou for your response , Ami.Mine is a similar job as yours.I have started taking a small walk every couple of hours during the day. When the pain gets very severe I take tylenol (not often) and that helps.
My best wishes to you too!

Kidney
Hello:
My 20 week ultrasound also showed an enlarged kidney. The good news is that since it is only one side, chances are that he will \";grow out of it\"; and if there's a problem it will resolve itself. I would suggest going back in 4 weeks from when you had the first to see if the kidney is of normal proportion. I went back for the next one, and the ultrasoun... - CNoel [View Message]

just an advice
Hey Kavita,

I'd say you get the ultrasound done so you will be able to see what is going on. Vaginal ultrasound is a good idea too.

Take care,
