Due Date Club January 2004:Scan showed some urine retention in Right Kidney

I'm new in this group . I'm 5 months and 3 weeks pregnant . I got my Scan done today . Everything was fine with the baby , but the Doctor noticed that the right kidney of the Foetus is retaining urine whereas it should not . Doc has advised to keep an eye and obeserve it . Has anyone else in this group experienced the same ?? Please let me know is what could be the reason for this and what can be done to cure it .

Hello:
My 20 week ultrasound also showed an enlarged kidney. The good news is that since it is only one side, chances are that he will \";grow out of it\"; and if there's a problem it will resolve itself. I would suggest going back in 4 weeks from when you had the first to see if the kidney is of normal proportion. I went back for the next one, and the ultrasound came back normal.
The bad news is that if something is wrong, it will not be diagnosed (most likely) until birth. I would not worry though, it seems that this is a situation which usually fixes!

Hey Kavita,

I'd say you get the ultrasound done so you will be able to see what is going on. Vaginal ultrasound is a good idea too.
