Hey!khaya,

I am having hypothyroidism from the past 2 years. I have not planned for a baby yet, but after consulting from 2-3 doctors, I got to know that if u take proper medications, there will be no issues, while conceiving. But of course, doctors can guide u properly. So please consult a doctor before taking any decision.

I know some people who have been treated for hypothyroidism, however have also had healthy babies. One suggestion to you would be to wait till your treatment is over and then start TTC. If you have further concerns, why don' t you discuss this with your doctor itself? This should help clarify any possible doubts, or consult a gynaecologist who can guide you precisely to make your decision. Also take your husband along to meet your doctor so that both of you can understand it clearly.

Hi Khaya,

I do not know anything about hypothyroidism and pregnancy.Using my common sense, I feel you need to have a healthy body to produce a healthy CHILD. This is the law of the Nature.

Some facts about MARRIED MEN. Lets consider 2 hypothetical situations:

Situation 1.

MAN loves his wife. Wants to have a family with kids and be happy. Takes responsibility of the FAMILY and KIDs together or along with his wife. Here he loves his wife from the heart and the KIDs.

Situation 2.

Man does not love wife. But loves her and wants her because he cannot take care of the KIDs alone.

I can bet that I can rarely come across any Daddy' s today who would say they can bring their kids up without their mommy' s. Neither do they have the patience nor the time as they are already running behind their high paying, highly stressful and high rewarding jobs.

The solution to your problem.

When you and your hubby get into your best times, I would suggest you ask him a few questions. Today people don' t have the patience to listen or even ask in specific what others want. They just hear things and assume some more and come to a conclusion.

So these are the questions

1. Why do you want the 2nd child, He would give a reason
2. Next question should be based on that reason. Keep on going until he pours his mind out
3. Have you ever thought of a situation where you are the only one to take care of the kids? how would you handle them in their mother' s absence?

1. Ask him don' t a healthy child need a healthy mother. His answer will be YES
2. Ask him does he think with your problem, can he have a healthy baby? His answer will be YES
3. Ask him how does he think that at your stage you can he have a healthy baby?
4. Ask him how does he feel if you are missing in his life
5. How does he plan to manage the kids

These questions will surely make him reply from his own mouth that either you guys don' t need a 2nd baby or you can have it once the mother is healthy.

Your hubby realizing the truth himself is the best solution to your problem. Please do not get a third person involved to try and make him understand things.

Things will get better Khaya, take the required medicine and I am sure you and your fly will have a good time ahead.

Cheers !

Pete
