Due Date Club December 2005:Small cavity opening

Hi Archie,
I am in 20th week. This is my first pregnancy. I had 2nd u/s few days before. Baby is fit 'n' fine. I saw the baby moving and sucking the thumb and the heart pumping. Heart bit rate is 144.
I have some times a small pain 6-7 times in a day. My gynac told me this is because, the opening / mouth of the cavity (ie. the sac) is little small. Usually its 3.5cms, mine is 3cms. She had given me some tabs and asked me to visit after 5-6 days and visit earlier if the problem increases. She told me that this happens sometime for some womens.

Is it severe? How does this happens? What are the sideeffects? Is anyone else experiencing the same problem? I am little worried.

Please please please reply.

Hi Pallavi,

My doc told me that my cervix was slightly open when I went for my ultrasound scan a month ago. But in later examinations it closed automatically. But I read up a lot about it when the doc told me. Its nothing really to be very concerned about. If required they will stitch it up. Did the doc tell you exactly what the pain was? I have read that some women experience slight contractions and they are given medication for it. Yours could be the same. Maybe you can discuss in detail with your doc about it. Depending on the progress, if required, they might even suggest bed rest.

Dont worry about it for the time being. Enjoy as much as you can. Just be careful about not lifting heavy items and stressing yourself too much.

Cheers,
Raji

Hi
You are right. My gynac told me that right now 3cms is ok.. if its small than that we may need to steach. For timebeing, bed rest is suggested till the pains are reduced.. i am taking the tabs regularly.. the pains are still there not stopped..

Hi Raji,
Yeh for time being, my doc says its because of the opening of the sac is little small. usually its 3.5cms mine is 3 cms which is shown in u/s report. She game me some tabs and asked me to see after a week or immediately if the problem increases. So far so good, the pains are reduced drastically.. although not completely. Tomorrow i'll be seeing her.. lets c.
Anyways.. good to read that its not a big problem.. thanx for the reply.

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
