Hi Laxmi,

If she is Jan born , she was 2Yr 4months in start of Nursery .. going by this she will be 3 Yr 4months when she starts LKG.

Firstly what is age criteria in the school she is studying ?
If its 31/2 yrs to 41/2 for LKG , she is 2 months younger than the Minimal age.
If its 4 to 5, she is 8 months yonger than the Min age.
Is thats so you should seriously think over.

Understand the age of other kids in her class and Portion in 1st onwards and then check if she can really cope with it.

FYI .. all schools have 2nd language starting from 1st std.

Thanks SS.
She is in Eurokids. They take kids starting fm 18 months for Play group. Acrdly, my daughter did her 6 months in Play group and now she is in Nursery. Since she is Jan borm she is 1 month younger in her class. If I repeat her she will be the eldest in her class. But I think that wot you said is correct, the syllabus is very vast. Im planning her to put in CBSE where 3.6 is the min age for LKG (She will be 3.5 yrs- Docters says that 3-4 months doestnt make any big difference.

What do you say considering CBSE curricula repeating her will be the right choice??? Do u have any idea of Vikhe PAtil Memorial School, Pune???? Hope to hear from u soon.

Right age for LKG is 4+, It goes this way
3 +: Nursery / Pre-KG
4 +: LKG
5 +: UKG
6+ : 1std

But I have seen many parents rushing and putting their kids in LKG when they are 3 and 1/2 .. and schools too accept these kids. But the problem starts after a while when there is big age diff between kids in the same class. Older kids follow what is taught in the class .. younger ones dont. This results in kids and parents both getting frustated that too over primary education !!

Not sure which city you are in. But in Blr, its norm that kids start LKG approximately once they complete 4 (-2/3 depending on school criteria).

Also, usually parents send kids to pre-KG (3-4 yrs)before going into LKG. Many schools start from pre-KG.

If you are still ambitious, you can put the kid in playschool (2-3 yrs).

thanks for the replies KK and SS, i do live in blore and had this confusion since kids his age were already going to pre school and i did not want him to start any kind of schooling schedule at least until he was 3. However, since the trend was otherwise, i was a bit worried. There was even a montessori close to where i lived which took in children only between 2y6m and 2y9m and would not admit them once they crossed that age if tehy were joining school for the first time. Anyway, thanks for the clarification and support.

Toddlers are at a crucial stage of learning, where foundational skills for life are being developed.
