Hi all,
I have a 4 month old baby who is totally breastfed.I wanted to know when to start introducing solids to her?Some people say that 4 months is a good time while others say that i need to wait till she is 6 months old. I am a little confused, Her doc said i can start anytime between 4-6 months.
She takes her feeds sometimes every two hrs and sometimes every 4 hrs...she is showing signs of readiness...infact she is already drinking expressed milk with a spoon rather than a bottle (she hates the bottle and loves the spoon)...and she looks eager when she sees food. She is also breasfeeding okay but I have noticed her chewing on her hand after a feed and at such times she readily accepts a drink of juice or water( i already started juice because she had constipation and her doc asked me to give her graoe juice). I also gave her a spoon or two of rice cereal and she ate it. But i am still not sure if i shud stop solids and stick to breas milk alone till she is 6 months.Can anyone give me any information?

Hi you may give her mashed banana. It helps in gaining weight and easiest to digest. babies like its taste very much. Mayuri replied. Hi, I started giving my baby rice ceareal at 4 months. Giveing rice cereal helps in reducing the chance of getting infetions. But the problem is some children are constipated by rice cereal. at that time u give Oat cereal. The order is Rice, Oat, Barley. After these three u can give wheat, soya and mixed cereals. Slowly you can increase the quantity and to thicker consistancy. Hope this helps. Let me know how r u doing?? Juls replied. hey Shub..
yes u can start with rice cereal for your baby. Start it once a day and then later on you can try mixed grain cereal etc...i started giving my baby rice cereal at 4 months too..the doctor adviced to do so..
