So nice to hear everyones updates..
Nikku is also talking a lot these days.. She says some 7-8 phrases now.. like if she drops something, she says 'gir (gee) gaya'.. like that.. She picks up words very fast, but is not able to say long words.. like 5-6 letter words.. Recognizes almost all objects, just takes 2-3 times for her to remember a new object.. Remembers where she last placed her ball/remote etc... She loves singing and dancing.. On New Year's eve she danced till 3 am till the party was not over.. So whenever she has these bursts of energy, I put on some music and she starts dencing.. Potty training is going on on and off.. Feeding her is a big struggle for me too.. She eats her breakfast on her own. For lunch and dinner, since the vegetables is slightly spicy, she doesnt want to eat it.. So I make her watch slow hindi songs on dvd.. While watching it, she eats her food. Dont know how long this will work..( Also, I have reduced her snacks to only milk/fruits.. Earlier I had some sleep issues.. but now she is sleeping well (touch wood). Whenever we go to any shop, if she spots a balloon then she keeps saying 'baooon' and she throws a tantrum to get it for her.. At home, since she is tall, she opens all the doors/closets by pulling the knobs.. She goes inside the bathroom and locks the door from inside sometimes.. So now nothing is safe in the house.. She plays lots of games with me like 'hide and seek' and all that.. I have stopped sippy cup for her and feed her all liquids from glass.. Tried giving her the straw cup couple of times, but was not succesful. Any tips on how to do that?
thats it from my end,
love to all kids,
Bhairavi.

Smile replied. Hi Bharavi, Good to know about Nikku's update. She is eating her BF on her own that is wonderful. Regarding straw cup. Savir started drinking around 12 months. We went to starbucks and I was drinking something very cold. He wanted that and tried to bite the straw. I thought him how to drink in 5 mins he learnt. I immediately got the straw cup. but to my disappointment he refused drinking. Then I followed the same technique like Hetal. I put his favourite juice in that and gave it to him. He started drinking and it is his favourite thing. If he sees it he wants that. Now also if I put milk in that he drinks it from it. Atleast half of it. Otherwise he doesn't drink that much milk. Anyways, Nikku is drinking from glass that is more than enough. I am slowly trying to introduce straw tumbler( from India). He spills but he tries to drink. Good luck.
Hetal replied. thats so sweet, bhairavi,,,,she sure is going to be a good dancer...
hugs n kisses to all lil toddlers,,hope we were in one place and could see thm growng...
about strawcup,,if nikku is comfortble with glass first,,continue with glass,,why you want to roll back,,,,she wil herself learn later on,,i have known kids in my frnds circle, who learnd from glass first,,thn like once they wer clse to 2year,they were drinking frooti with those lil straws on thr own !
otherwise,,you can try nuby or ordinary straws and see if givng his fav juice or milk helps him to suck from it...
keep the strawcup in the place where she spends most of her time,,let that be her before her eyes all the time,,and all the time she feels like thirsty, just put the straw in her mouth,,there is one nuby strawcup that has nipple like straw,,you can try that,,i made nirja learn from that only when she was 1year old,,she learnd it nicely from that,,i forgt exact name, but you will be able to see it in target where all nuby stuffs are lyng and its quite diff so you will not have to browse around..i couldnt find it newhere...
rest all take care, dont worry,,drinkng from strawcup is not that imp,,neways, she will learn it in later life...not imp at al,,,glass is somethng that you have to worry about..
chalo thn take care, lots of love to nikku..

Breast pumps
I am using a medela pump to feed my baby when I am out. The medela breast pumps are really a good choice for the working moms. We can pump the milk regularly and can store it and use whenever needed.... - dalewhither [View Message]
evenflo elan breast pump
Buy this pump! It’s made my life so much easier. I always got sore with my old Medela Advanced, but that never happens with the Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump. What really makes a difference is its ease of use. It’s really easy to switch between pumping phases and take apart to clean. Strongly recommend it for all mothers that pump daily.... - stellatylor [View Message]

try this
As we discussed earlier in this forum I used magnetic alphabets , through which he has learnt alphabets within a week. And number within 4 days.
It is as like take the letter and stick to it where ever he goes more and ask him to search a particular letter. this worked very well for me.
all the best... - Manju [View Message]
