Due Date Club July 2005:update

HI,

just a quick update.

Anushka has a bad cold. I am tired of cleaning her nose every minute. Her cough is better but her nose is still mucosy. I think she has a stomach bug too. I guess tis the sick season.

Anyways, she is still not saying any words. I am sure the doc is going to ask me to consult the speech therapist at her 18th month appt which is soon.

Potty we are doing on the commode. Hurray to that. Sometimes, she will even indicate that she wants to go by pointing to her diaper. Not always, but sometimes.

We are not eating what mommy cooks. So we are back to baby food. I have to hold her hands and shove it in her mouth. Baby food and yoghurt is the only one that'll go and stay in. Rest, she knows how to sputter it all out.

We know i.e. recognize A to Z and 1 to 10. If I take a newspaper or magazine and ask her where's R or S or X or watever, she points them out correctly.

We still love Winnie the Pooh. We feed him before we feed ourselves. ;) Even the sippy, it goes to him first.

How are rest of the babies doing? would love to know.

Regds,
Sheetal

Hi
Nice to hear abt Anushka's update. She really seem to be smart toddler for her age.
I am in same boat as you.Aaroh is had cough/cold lasted 12-13 days.Worst part was cleaning, He won't let me go any where near his nose.
We went for holidays to UK/France.He was excellent in flight(touch wood). He suprised me by warming to our friends we were staying with as soon as we landed.Enviorment change did not matter him a bit.He got his virus in last leg of our trip.So have been on toes after returning back.Anyway Had really good trip/break.
On speaking front he is same as B4.We went to his ped yesterday, but he has asked us to wait for some more time.He said that at this stage what speech therapist would check is his hearing capacity and if we are sure abt it need not worry. Also suggested that we should try and speak only one langauge. We try but its difficult at times.
Any way let me know if you go to speech therapist what all is suggested. If there r loads of things then I will insist on getting referal 4 speech therapist any way.
Potty training had lil break Bcause of hols should be on track soon.
Aaroh is also driving me nuts with his no food policy. He only eats one proper meal a day, otherwise its bit here n there. He has also decided suddenly (in matter of hours)that he does not need milk in bottle. My milkohalic(I use worried abt that too:-) baby now refuses bottle even for single time a day.
Any more later
Loads of love to all kids
Saral

Hi Saral,

oh you had a great trip, didn't you? I am glad Aaroh was good in the flight. I hope he gets well soon.

Do you still give him milk in a bottle? probably a nice sippy or a straw cup with his favorite characters would work.

Abt the speech, yes, these kids have no problem with the hearing. Well, I think I am boring everyone with the same topic but till she doesnt start to talk, I m just always worried. I know its alrite to wait and some kids are late and all, but since this one is our first baby, we do tend to worry, rite?

Anyways, love to Little Aaroh.

Wow we are doing really well!! and you were saying you were worried!! she is so clever.I have a struggle with Dylan for feeding also but i called the ped she told me to cut the 3.00 milk feeding to something like yogurt or cheese only so that he would eat better during evenings and that seemed to work. Dylan also loves yogurt he will only sit in his high chair if we show him the yogurt first. I have to potty train him now i think now is the time as he is understanding alot of things he tries to feed himself with a spoon and bowl and says mumum happa... we are amwazed at how much he is picking up. I think the speech therapist will help although i still think that this is a normal process as i know many kids who started talking late but it will give you a piece of mind :)

Hi Priya,

oh yes, anushka loves yoghurt too. She wants to eat it with a spoon. I remove all her clothes coz she actually looks like naughty krishna while eating yoghurt; she is completely covered in it.

How is your tummy this time? Must be growing faster than last time. Thats wat they say rite?

Regds,
Sheetal

Breast pumps
I am using a medela pump to feed my baby when I am out. The medela breast pumps are really a good choice for the working moms. We can pump the milk regularly and can store it and use whenever needed.... - dalewhither [View Message]
evenflo elan breast pump
Buy this pump! It’s made my life so much easier. I always got sore with my old Medela Advanced, but that never happens with the Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump. What really makes a difference is its ease of use. It’s really easy to switch between pumping phases and take apart to clean. Strongly recommend it for all mothers that pump daily.... - stellatylor [View Message]

HI Gayathri,

I used the puzzles, the wooden blocks for alphabets and numbers.... - Sheetal [View Message]
try this
As we discussed earlier in this forum I used magnetic alphabets , through which he has learnt alphabets within a week. And number within 4 days.
It is as like take the letter and stick to it where ever he goes more and ask him to search a particular letter. this worked very well for me.
all the best... - Manju [View Message]
