Due Date Club July 2005:sleep

Hi everyone,
For the past 1-2 months, Nikku has been teething.. She first got the lateral incisors, then she is getting her molars. And from the last 1 month, she has been getting up a lot at nights.. Its become really tiring for me.. She has never been a really good sleeper, she used to get up 1-2 at night and I would tap her back to sleep. But lately she is getting up like 3-4 times at nights, sometimes getting up every 1 hr. I have tried moving up her dinner time thinking she might be getting gassy at night, I check her body temp so that she is not too warm or cold. But nothing seems to work. Any idea why this could be happening? Could this be becoz of teething.. Never earlier did she have sleeping problems during teething. Also during daytime she takes 1 good (touch wood) 2 hr nap. Doesnt wake up during day time.. Also, for teething can I give her any pain medications or something? I have been giving her Hyland's teething tablets. Please give me your inputs..
bye
Bhairavi.

The baby shoudnt be waking up at night at this age, unless she is fussy with something – fever etc. Please make sure she eats solid food at night before she sleeps. Also avoid giving her milk in the evening if you feel she is gassy. She should at least eat 1 roti + daal OR 1 small bowl of rice with daal/ sabji. She shood finish her dinner 1 hr before she goes to sleep.

Sometimes baby just want to make sure that you are around. When she is not fussy with anything- try not responding her when she cries at night for 4-5 days. My DD used to stand in crib and cry and once I tap her she used sleep in no time. But then I stopped responding to her and it worked. Now even if she wakes up at night she sleeps again by herself.

For teething, I used Oragel for my DD, seems it worked, not sure :-)

Breast pumps
I am using a medela pump to feed my baby when I am out. The medela breast pumps are really a good choice for the working moms. We can pump the milk regularly and can store it and use whenever needed.... - dalewhither [View Message]
evenflo elan breast pump
Buy this pump! It’s made my life so much easier. I always got sore with my old Medela Advanced, but that never happens with the Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump. What really makes a difference is its ease of use. It’s really easy to switch between pumping phases and take apart to clean. Strongly recommend it for all mothers that pump daily.... - stellatylor [View Message]

try this
As we discussed earlier in this forum I used magnetic alphabets , through which he has learnt alphabets within a week. And number within 4 days.
It is as like take the letter and stick to it where ever he goes more and ask him to search a particular letter. this worked very well for me.
all the best... - Manju [View Message]
