Hi Archie,

I had written to you last on 10th/11th July. Just to refresh - had a weak +ve on hpt and also urine test. My GP had advised me to wait a few days ( had tested on 8th Jul CD37 - 6 days after missed period.

Subsequently on 11th Jul I had some brown discharge (sorry !!). On 12th was advised to go for a scan. Abdominal scan was not able to detect any sign of pregnancy, hence they did an internal scan. The scan showed a very small gsac (less than 5 mm) and no fetal pole, yolk or heartbeat. Was told to repeat scan in 10 days time. In the meanwhilc since i was still spotting (brown)was hospitalised. Doc started me on folic acid and progesteron supplements. After 2 days i had a bit of red blood, but doc did an abdominal scan and was sure things were ok. As per him it could have been collection blood !! Was discharged the next day (saturday)but was asked to take complete bed rest for next few days. Was still spotting which increased by Mon/Tue to proper red spotting. Was admitted once more on Tue morning. Scan showed things were fine, but then by Tue afternoon started bleeding profusely with clots (Sorry again). Examination showed that was discharging products. Doctor then did an evacuation. He told me my uterus was strong. Reason for the miscarriage as per him could be that the fetus was malformed or could be some infection in blood. I am to go for tests next week.

Just wanted to check with you, what do you feel could have gone wrong. And y, one more thing I have now got my periods on 16th Aug (the miscarriage was on 18th Jul)

sounds like a blighted ovum case. You have nothing to worry.
Try in this cycle between 10th and 17th day.
It happens sometime that chromosomes don't recombine correctly and is not in hands of anyone to rectify it.

Am so sorry that you had to go through this loss. But sometimes you just can't help it. Some times the fetus is not strong enough to survive. I can understand what u are going through now , having been in similar situation thrice (yes 3 times!). Take some time off. Get all tests done. You will have a urge to conceive again... but god forbid if u miscarry again u will be devestated. I suggest do all the tests before you try again.
