Hi

Just a note to new moms..since all will be busy feeding babies, an advance tip..do apply vaseline to ur nipples so u don' t have cracked and bleeding pains later, it does help..later u get a cream lanolin, that u can apply too..but in advance prep to ease the process helps, else can get painful later.
Take care
Radhika

thats a great tip Radhika..infact from past 10 days i have started using a nipple cream from Mothercare as my sis asked me to start using it since breastfeeding would be tough and painful in initial days..hoping that this precuation would really help..

as the Dday is nearing, am really excited and anxious..am due on 17th but still no signs of labor..

Hi Radhika,

Thanks for the suggestion. This message just prompted me to share my experience of being a new mommy during the first week.
I just couldnt get the technic of breastfeeding my baby. And to top it all, my nipples were inverted. That is, they werent pointed as they were supposed to be. And my baby used to cry very badly, every time, I couldnt feed him properly. I was so stressed during this period. I was feeling that I am not worth being a mother at all.
But the nurses and doctors in my hospital were very good. They taught me the right way to feed the baby. And at the end of almost 5 days, I was able to feed him properly on my own, without any help.
Also, its important to keep checking the baby' s urine. In case its yellowish in color, its a matter of concern. The baby might be having jaundice. Doesnt harm to check once with the paedetrician.
Take care,
- Renu
