Due Date Club August 2007:Breast pump

Hi everybody...I need an urgent answer from anybody who can help me. I am actually looking for breast pumps that are reasonably priced. Could anybody suggest a site and/or a brand name? What would u guys reccomend? Have you guys researched on breastfeeding. I work full time and I have asked my company if they would have any problem if I took a break to express milk and they don' t seem to have a problem. Since my date is nearing I am desperate to get some information fast. Breast pumps can be so expensive. I plan to post this question in every bulletin here so I can get as many answers as possible...

hi,if you are a full time working mom, i would say that its a great investment..if you are in India an electric pump of a good brand (avent, medela..)would cost b/w 3000-4000..but think about the advantages of providing the breast milk to your baby even when u r back to work..

i am due on 17th and plan to go back to work fulltime once the baby is about 4 months old and will surely invest in a breast pump..and as Radhika said if you have friends/cousins who are willing to share, make use of it..

all the best...take care

Hey Chitra..I am sorry...I tried to send u a good website...but I guess we are not allowed to do that...the indiaparenting people said that they will look into my msg and if they see there is no issue they will post it...I hope they do...because the website provides with good info on breastfeeding and I a m sure they won' t mind posting my message bec. the main idea of indiaparenting website is to educate people on pregnancy and parenting ...well, once they post my message...do go to that site...

I had bought mine when i had anushka and spent on a good deal online but yes they are still expensive..but worrrrthhh it. I have tll now shared it every year with a friend and intend to do so once i am done using with the second one too..its a realy valuable device so pick the best. I bought the medela double pump..mainly for 3 reasons..one lactation nurse in the class suggested, second it pumps both at the same time..and if u experience feeding, everytime the child feeds from one the other tends to leak a bit or more as per individual, so it saves that..thirdly one pump each is painful..as is takes 15-20 min break with double pump..single pump, manual all may save cost, but everyday 2-3 times its hard to do.
So invest in a good double pump and share it with friends when not in use..its a useful, very useful product..than when u see the cost of formulas that we could spend and benefit of milk which is free of cost.
mine was around 260-280 then but instead of the crib/swings/formulas/expensive clothes the first year..this is one good investment for baby for health.
Thx
Radhika
