Hi All,
this is w.r.t the posint on 30th may \" Daughter' s mottai\" ..thanxs for the replies.. this really helped in convincing my daughter for tonsure... we all reached palani on 12th of aug and checked into a hotel and rested for a while.. then i unbraided my daughter' s hair and made a ponytail.. and proceed to the tonsure hall..my hubby got 3 tokens... and we all proceeed to the tonsure hall.. as our turn came.. i went first and sat before the barber.. i was bald in 5 mins time.. now i asked my daughter to sit and the barber poured water and massged her head and made tow knots.. then her head was bent and started shaving from middle.. she started sobbing but i consoled her.. sooner larger white patch was seen and in 3 mins time left knot fell on her lap and in another few mins right knot was detached from her head.. then the barber shaved once more to ensure smooth head... and she got up touching her bald head.. we then went to have bath and after which i applied chandan on all our heads and went for the darshan.. we were happy to see her bald head and satisfaction on completing her mottai... we have again taken vow to get our head shaved once her marraige is completed.her look has drasticaly changed and took her nearly 10 days to get accustomed to her new look as there were fun and comments among her friends at workplace.. we have decided to look for alliance after 6 mnths when she will have some decent amt of hair...

Kamalaji,
How is Kavya these days about 4 months after your Palani tonsure? How long is her hair now? And yours? A four month growth looks shaggy. Have you kept your hairs uncut? Have you started searching for a boy for Kavya? Does she still cover her head? Or has she got a nice boycut? Please reply.
I advice Kavya that she should be happy now and should make a vow to happlily get shaved again along with you after her marriage is over.

Dear Kamalaji,
I am extremely happy to know that your family had a mottai at Palani on Aug 12. You have said this is the first mottai for you also. Did you find it enjoyable? I wish your daughter a good bridegroom at the earliest.
You have said that you will look for the groom after your daughter gets some ' decent' amount of hair. Sorry to say this. But personally I feel being bald is as decent as having hair. In fact, a baldi looks better (in my view) than one having a six month growth (about 3 inches). If you want to make it look better at that time, your daughter should undergo a nice boycut. I do not think that would convey a good message to the groom' s family. Since you have done this to get a groom for her, I suggest that you straightaway plunge into looking for the groom. Many families really respect religious families for alliance and if they find that a girl is ready for religious tonsure, it may be a plus point. So do not postpone looking for marriage alliance.
By the by, what is your daughter' s name? What has she studied? Is she working or at home?
Tell her from me that she should enjoy her bald status fully with a smile. Fun and comments are normal and need not be taken in a negative way.

Dear Kamalaji,
I saw your post. Normally the hair grows about half inch per month. For some people it grows much faster - about three fourth inch or even one inch per month. So in three months Kavya will have about 2 to 3 inches of hair.
To the best of my knowledge there is no method to enhance hair growth rate. I suggest not to believe in grand advertisements you see on TV for lotions which are supposed to increase hair growth rate.

Hi Radha,

it was a mixed feeling... intially i was happy that the vow has got completed when my hair was lying on the floor and bald look but quite strange without hair..both of us miss our long hair as the look has drasticaly changed but getting accustomed to it as i need to go for another tonsure after my daughter marriage...now a days started going out without covering my head..my daughter name is kavya and she has done btech and working... she covers her head while going out to work place and still not very comfortable with her look..and cries when someone comments..thanxs for your suggestion.. i have a doubt how long the hair grow after 3 months time..so that we can look for alliance..and any method to enhance the hair growth...

Texturizing spray for thin hair
Hello everyone,
I have medium volume hair but my hair type is very thin and silky. Due to which my hair doesn't hold curls for long hours. I have heard that texturizing spray helps to solve the above problem. Could someone please suggest the good texturizing spray for thin hair?... - Amulya Peru [View Message]
