Due Date Club July 2005:potty training

Just wanted to ask how u guys doing with potty training. I have zero progress so far. She just refuses to sit on the chair, half the times i dont even realize when she has pooped. She doesnt even show any signs of discomfort when she has done it. Its only the smell that tells me. She doesnt even hve fixed timings.

How is everyone else doing? I know Aryan and Nirja are trained so far. Wat abt the rest? Do you think its a good idea to try training pants? Or just wait a couple of more months. Our babies are 16 months old now.

Regds,

Hi Sheetal,
My dd pees once in every hour. I make her sit on the potty seat & I sit on a step up stool in front of her & say ushhh & make faces & she does it without any probs. Sometimes, she just wants to play & I just distract her by singing her fav rhymes . There r some accidents but its only due to my laziness. Once she is done, I usually appreciate her by clapping hands, hugging her , kissing her .I give her banana usually after breakfast so that she does potty before lunch.

if neone is facing prob with irregular bowels, giving 3-4oz apple juice or banana juice mixed with prune juice everyday at any one time of the day,,and sticking to the same time,,like if today 3 noon, thn tomrow at 3 noon,,,, will give them regular bowels !
my updates,,,nirja is able to deal with pee now. next month 15onwards, she will be joining Montessori School for 3hours. i hp she doesnt end up making ne accidents there ! as such she was able to ask for it on time..but m still afraid,,keeping fingers crossed...

the bad news is i removed her earings..while playing her earings might have tangled somewhere(it was a lil hoop,i dont know how it happnd) i came to know when she came crying and holding her ears to me...
she had lot of bleeding and i had to treat her with first aid ! now bleeding has stopped and in afternoon i will rush her to dr,, m not sure what happnd,,she was playing and by the time i came out of restroom she came crying to me ! bad day altogether for me...

good luck all of you..

Hi all, Trisha has pee tranined. But it doesnt work all the time. Whenever she wants to pee and poo i ask her say to me. Also most of the time she is diaper free bird. So if she wants to pee she will show her diaper then i will undress the diaper and make her stand in our regualr bath tub.
For poo, im trying to make her sit like our indian toilet style in the tub itself. She doesnt like herpotty seat she just wants to play with that. So im trying to poo train like our indian method.Hope she will cooperate soon for that.
All the best to all.

Subject:  My exp with potty training

Hi all moms

Its long time since i wanted to post my potty traing exp with my dd, i am sorry that i forgot among my new job, dd day care prob, & she being in & out of cold, cough which is so common in this flu season & with daycare going kids.
I started her potty traing soon after she is 18 months old, before that i was in India for 2 months , in that time i always used to keep her out of diaper so that she will get that wet feeling, that helped me alot to start with traing, u guys who r stay home moms can use cloth diaper or leave them on panties. I brought this royal potty & kept in restroom & tried to tell dd that she has to do su su in that she just ignored my words, then i put that potty in the living room where we spent most of the day, & no use , she never responded to me when i asked her if she wants to do su su & can do in that potty, she continued doing accidents , but we have tiles in the entire living room so, i was able to clean it,i just lost the hope of making her diaper free before i take up new job or before she is 2 yrs old, infact most of my friends said its better to start the trianing after their second b'day. The potty seat was lying in the living room all the time & was seen by her all the time & each time of accident i used to mention her that she should in potty & not on floor, then all of a sudden one day i saw her pulling her pants & diaper, i asked her what she is doing? she answered su su & just went & sat on the potty, & did su su, there u go, she now knows where to do her su su, afterwards i was very serious abt that & after that she always did her su su in that , but not poop, as she used to do that soon after waking up in morning & its in diaper, but somehow she refused to poop in potty & needed diaper for that, i thought may be its good to start one at a time, so didn't force her. slowly the pooty seat was moved from living roon to half way between living room to restroom, that worked too, she had no accidents, then after a week or so, i moved it to restoom, & she used that too & no accidents at all, now she is 100% su su trained even at day care, but potty is depends on her mood, some time in restroom, sometime in diaper & some times in panties, She wears diaper at night, looks like she can hold her su su all night bcoz i see her diaper totally dry when she wakes up in moring & immedietly after she wakes up she says \" su su\" & goes & empties her entire bladder.
Hope this may help you all, but its not late to start the trining , may be takes some tome to get hang of it

Good luck & lots of kisses to all kids

Roopa

training pants are really good option to cloth diapers.the only thing is cloth diapers asks for lot of laundries.so its personal decision.

what matters is kids should feel the wetness,,its irrespective of cloth or training pants ! esp it works good for those kids who have no signs of discomfort/potty training. the only diff is cloth diaper are cottons so person like me felt safe using them.

also, waiting for signs of potty training is also a good idea..which is gen at 18month to 2.5yrs...however,its personal decision dpending on kids signs of readiness.
check babycenter and diaperpin dot com for wonderful ideas, forums, and many other issues...good ideas !

so a very good luck to you all.

Breast pumps
I am using a medela pump to feed my baby when I am out. The medela breast pumps are really a good choice for the working moms. We can pump the milk regularly and can store it and use whenever needed.... - dalewhither [View Message]
evenflo elan breast pump
Buy this pump! It’s made my life so much easier. I always got sore with my old Medela Advanced, but that never happens with the Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump. What really makes a difference is its ease of use. It’s really easy to switch between pumping phases and take apart to clean. Strongly recommend it for all mothers that pump daily.... - stellatylor [View Message]

try this
As we discussed earlier in this forum I used magnetic alphabets , through which he has learnt alphabets within a week. And number within 4 days.
It is as like take the letter and stick to it where ever he goes more and ask him to search a particular letter. this worked very well for me.
