Hi Archie,

I am in my 18th week of pregnancy and think things are going fine. Just that at time when I am resting I feel as if I can hear the heartbeat of the baby down below mostly close to the groin area. Is that normal or am I just hallucinating? Also, at time I have a pain in the area below the ribs (right in the center) probably where the stomach is or the duodenum (not sure).. the pain subsides in 4-5 min. but is this normal?

Dear Ar,
pain in stomach at referred location is normal, it's due to uterus expansion is going to be there on and off.

I don't that you can feel fetal heartbeat at the groing ares, it could be but less likely and is just your fetal movements, if you are first timer may be not easy to differentiate for you to fetal movements. If these feelings are not all the time but have occasionally then I am inclined towards fetal movements, and that's normal and good news.
