Hi everybody,
how are you guys preaparing for new arrival? I am having twin girls. Well right now I am on totally bedrest so can't go out but my husband and my mother have started buying few things.
So far we bought two car seat, crib, bedding, few receving blankets, few new born cloths, hats, botties etc. Girl stuff are very cute. Since we have twins we got some same stuff and some with same pattern diffrent color. I am planning to put name on each thing to seprate for each.

Currently I am 31 week and at most I will go for 36 week. I gained so far 22 lb, but belly is becoming huge. It's becoming more and more uncomfortable.

There are so many car seats available for the safety of the kids. Each seat has its own features and supports the weight of the kids. The Britax car seat can support from 40 lbs to 60 lbs.

Hi kavitha. As you said you had' nt done any shopping till now. I appreciate the care you are taking for your child. Thats nice of you. The convertible car seats are the good one. Try the rear facing car seats. They are more reliable. They help you kid getting hurt if there is any pile up.

The wooden cribs will support the baby weight, but the baby feels hard while sitting or taking a nap on the wooden board. So better stuff it with some cushions.

Booster car seats are meant for children age 3 and older who weigh at least 40 pounds. Some parents choose to use convertible car seats as their primary car seat from day one. Others only switch to an infant/toddler convertible seat when their baby outgrows the infant car seat.

Subject:  Crib

Hello,

As I mentioned earlier the crib we got is a full-size crib that can be converted to a bed when the baby is big enough - we can use it till he is 4-5 years old. It has a wooden platform and we are getting a cotton mattress - so this forms a good support. The wire/net platform ones I have doubts bout those - so was looking for a wooden platform.
I have started looking for diapers - havent seen the newborn ones a lot.. Also I would wait till the thanxgiving weekend sale for crib-sets n stuff. The sales are real good - atleast I'll keep my hubby informed of my choices - so he can get it if I'm not able to venture out for shopping in that period.. Lets see..

Hi there,
I always thought for graco travel system, but I had to change mind because of twins. We bought two graco car seat which can be use for one year. I am not going for graco stroller because I want to go for side by side stroller but you guys don't have that problem.
We bought wood crib from Simmons. I did also long research because I didin't want to spend too much money. We bought it from Babies r us. I got $25 coupon for crib, 10% of in bedding, and $10 off in car seat. Plus I got baby monitor free with purchase.
I haven't decide for diapers, but might go with huggies.

Hi Gals,
Bina congrats on the Twins!!
about shopping -
Even we are researching for all the things we plan to buy. We finally bought a crib after a loooong research - coz we wanted a wooden one with a solid wood platform and one which can be converted to a bed later but all this at a reasonable price! So one major thing is done. Now will look for a travel system - and I think as Dipti mentioned - Graco is a nice one. the car seat I think will be useful till 20lbs but the stroller can be used after that also, right? And the combo is very convenient - since u dont have to wake the baby up every time u get out of the car - just lift the carseat and place it on the stroller. Also it forms a complete 'matching set'

Hey,
Check the weight limits of portable/plastic crib. That should help u to decide.I guess wood will support more weight. If u really liked the portable feature, then u can go for bassinet and crib combination.
Regarding diapers, am planning to buy both the popular brands initially and decide based on trial and error.I will also buy clothes diapers.

hey Bina, congratulations on having twin girls! I am having my 2nd kid (the older is a girl and am now having a boy). I also, have not yet started shopping. However, I do have most of the big stuff like a crib etc from my daughter;s time. I just have to buy the clothes etc. Kavitha, for the car-seat, I had bought the Graco travel system. That way you can use the same car-seat in the stroller when you go out.
Love and cares,
Dipti.

Hey,
What is the weight limit of graco travel systems ? Is it 20 lbs? We are in 2 minds on this. Not sure if we should buy a travel system or convertible car seat ,separate stroller and a front carrier for winter months.

Hi, the Britax car seats are the best car seats and they are in the market from more than 3 decades. There are different models available in Britax. You need to choose the one which best fits your car and your requirements.
