Vegetarian Food:for anuradha- vadakari recipe
2005-01-08
Name: Meena Jawahar

Hi Anuradha

I have not tried this recipe, but this was in my cook book, so i'm sending u the recipe from that book.
Ingrediants:
channa dhal(kadalai parupu)- 1 cup
onions- 1
tomatos- 2
turmeric powder- a pinch
chilly powder- as needed
ginger- a small piece
garlic- 4 flakes
green chilles- 2
cloves, cinnamom sticks- 2,2
salt- as needed
oil for frying.

Soak the kadalai parupu in water for half an hour and grind it coarsely(not into a thick paste) without adding water or just very little water. Make small rounds and boil in idli cooker. In a frying pan add oil, and fry cloves and cinnamoms, then giner-garlics, green chilles, onions and fry well. After it got fried well add the tomatos, chilly powder, turmeric powder and salt and fry well and add water to it. Allow it to boil well and now add the boiled dhal to it and boil it well and as it forms a gravy and good smell comes, remove it from the stove.
Note: Anuradha, if the recipe comes out well, pl. inform me. I was waiting that someone will reply u with recipe, but u were still waiting ....so i saw my book and transulated it. Since i din't try this recipe i din't want to send it to u...but the recipe seems okay...so give it a try and send your comments.okay vaa..
Regards
Meena.
