I am really sad today as we went for Arjun's followup today ( after his antibiotic dose got over) only to know that both his ears are still infected. His dr is suggesting us to see an ENT surgeon who will most probably suggest a tube to be placed in his ears to elevate the ear drum so that he will not get frequent infections.

We are planning to see an ENT specialist after the India trip, meanwhile I am working from home this week and week after to keep his condition in control.

He has also got a yeast infection at the bottom and getting stomach cramps due to the antibiotics which is giving all of us sleepless nights.
Also heard that my to be sister-in-law is suffering from a fever of unknown origin since last 15 days- so I am worried for her too since yesterday. Overall a really sad day for me.

my previous doc suggested me to consult ENT surgeon because nishu had 6 ear infections in 8mnths. i changed my doc and new doc gave 2 antibiotics for 20 days.after the dose got over, his both ears were normal.there was no sign of infection but my new dr gave another medicine for 10days.

after that he never had ear infections.touchwood.
So i would strongly suggest you to take second opinion before you see ENT surgeon.

Arti, my opinion is, talk to his daycare caregiver.Ask her that any of other childern in his class has ear infection? Also abt the yeast infection, check the daycare that how hygenic they are. Do u have the facility of viewing thru webcam coz most of the good daycare has that facilities.
Also dont allow him to sleep with bottle.

How often is Arjun getting ear infections?? Usually some kids due to their ear canal formation are more prone to ear infections(whether they are stay at home or are with other kids)whnever they catch a cold, they end up with ear infections.
I know a good friend of mine whose son (who is 4 years old now) had this issue usually doc's starts with the most basic kind of antibiotics like amoxicillian for some reason if that does not clear up the ear infection they give little stronger dose of antibiotics. What kind is Arjun getting?? If that does not work (stronger antibiotics then Doc will suggest ear tubes). My friend's son had them and it totally helped him with ear infection and sleepless nights.
In any case I would strongly suggest you to make sure that his ear are totally cleared up before you go to India because you don't want him to suffer with air pressure in such a long flight with sensitive ears.
Hopefully he will feel better soon.

i too would recmnd you to visit your ent first and thn visit india! in india there is alot of things going on like viral infection,mosquito bites and all,,,,so why take a chance,,atleast you will know whats the prob !!and you can start taking precautions from now itself...
and since he is having a yeast infection, travelling to a diff atmosphere with diff water and everything new will be too much for him to handle...
be careful yaar,,,,visit your ent and atleast ask him about the precautions you can take to avoid ne further issues...

I would recommend you to take arjun to ent before your travel.. Bcos when plane takes off and lands the pressure builds up inside the plane and the poor guy will have a severe ear pain..

Dont' you think its a good idea to go to the ENT doc before the india trip, so that it doesnt get worse.
