Due Date Club July 2005:Hi all about flu vaccine....

Hi guys,
Just wanted to ask you whether your little ones have taken flu shots for this season. If so can you tell me whether it is safe to take. One of my friends told me that the flu vaccine contains a preservative called thimerosal, its a kinda of mercury which is not good for health. can anyone tell me more about this. I have an appointment for savir for his regular as well as his flu shots. I am thinking to talk to his doctor about this. I just want to know more about this before his appointment. Thanks in advance.

Hi Smile!

I don’t know the details about contents of flu shots, but pediatrician has suggested taking flu shot for my DD. She will have it this month end. :-(

Generally children get ear , eye infection once they get flu , then they are given antibiotics. So anyway they will get thimerosal or antibiotics, I don’t know which one is better.

I guess you should call your doctor to get more information about it, also if u get any info please update us too.

Thanks,
Suchie.

Hi Smile,

My son had his appt last week for his shots and also flu shot. It is good to check with the Paed abt Thermosol(these days most flu vaccines do not contain preservative(ie thermosol)I raise the question and our paed went to the fridge in their office(as no preservative: so short life span of the vaccine) and showed me the box and it read no preservative.
The scare is about mercury and that it causes autism..(not proven theory). But again it is who you are talking to People with autistic kids swear by that Mercury causes autism but doctors and medical people not agree to.
But in anycase it is good to get the shot as AAOP recommends it for anyone above 6 months of age. That is my take on it.
Hope this helps
Ritu

Breast pumps
I am using a medela pump to feed my baby when I am out. The medela breast pumps are really a good choice for the working moms. We can pump the milk regularly and can store it and use whenever needed.... - dalewhither [View Message]
evenflo elan breast pump
Buy this pump! It’s made my life so much easier. I always got sore with my old Medela Advanced, but that never happens with the Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump. What really makes a difference is its ease of use. It’s really easy to switch between pumping phases and take apart to clean. Strongly recommend it for all mothers that pump daily.... - stellatylor [View Message]

try this
As we discussed earlier in this forum I used magnetic alphabets , through which he has learnt alphabets within a week. And number within 4 days.
It is as like take the letter and stick to it where ever he goes more and ask him to search a particular letter. this worked very well for me.
all the best... - Manju [View Message]
