Sleeping:Sleep related problems

Hi! I have a little one who is having sleep related issues. She sleeps in our arms only or on the breast and wakes up the instant you put her down on her bed and then the process of walking around with her has to begin all over again.

Also, if we successfully put her asleep in her cot, she wakes up after 40 mins of sleep, and starts wailing. Then it is very difficult to make her sleep again.

I want to teach her to fall asleep on her own so that if she gets up in the middle of the night she can fall asleep again and want to know if others have faced a similar situation and would appreciate any advice in the matter please

hi bhavana,

I understand how difficult your situation is.I have a 13 month old daughter who still wakes up twice at night.I suggest you to try a bedtime routine for youe little one, like a nice warm bath and music or reading a story to quiten her then feed her , I think this will help, but do it continously for a week to set the routine.
Best of luck, do let me know if it has worked for you

Bhavna,
I am a post graduate in counselling. i feel that your child has formed a habit of sleeping in your arms. Break that or else you will have a difficult time later. At times child might be feeling insecure or else it's just that he has formed a habit. Make him sleep near you on your bed and be besides him when he goes to sleep. give him your hand or cuddle and caress him on his face, forhead, neck which will ensure your presence to him. Initially he might wake up but do not get into the old habit. Gradually he would take up this pattern.

Hi Bhavna!! I've read your problem and i too have a 5mth old baby girl who doesnt sleep before 1 at night and even she has the habit of getting up at nights...the best thing which has suited me the most is that i make her sleep next to me and if she gets up i give her my breast from the side in sleeping position. so that way she gets her feed plus she feels sleepy due to the constant sucking and this way even u will get your sleep without tiring yourself..walking up and down. U can try this and if it works it would be wonderful

Sleep Problem due to itchy skin
My baby girl is unable to sleep properly due to skin rashes. I have resumed oil massages to help calm her down and facilitate better sleep, using CITTA Baby Massage Oil. Additionally, I am applying the ointment recommended by her doctor for the rashes. Could you please provide me with more ideas that can promote better sleep for her?... - Sanchari Tarafdar [View Message]

According to me this is good but then you cannot force your child to sleep as per your wish as kids as really bad in this and they have a tendency to sleep in day and get up in late night so according to me this is not the key to success, please post if i am wrong.... - Anita [View Message]
