Due Date Club July 2008:sitting position

hi everyone..

i' m confused about certain sitting positions..my grandmother-in-law forbade me from sitting with my legs crossed.. is there some sense in that or is it just a traditional belief? also can i sit with my legs stretched out with one foot crossing the other? coz she told me not to do that too.. i find it very uncomfortable to sit absolutely straight for a very long period of time.. i automatically cross my feet together when i get tired of keeping them straight..

need your advise

Hi,
I m from june board,

yes u SHOULD NOT sit crossed legged during first few weeks of pregnancy(my gynac too suggested it as i had a loss last year).
but you can cross your leg when stretched.
i know it' s really uncomfortable. But all this for your lil one only na?? think about it and be happy.. some traditional beleifs are good for our baby. what' s harm in listning to our elders?
be happy and think about good things dear..

bye lots of love to you and baby.

I asked my nurse about the sittin g positions in 1st trimenster, she suggested that I can sit crossed leg, thats not a problem in this trimester but 2nd trimester onwards one shud be careful as varicose veins start developing in the vaginal area....BUT you may want to talk to your doctor about this.
take care
Ishi
