Dear Shabat,
I am so very sorry that the Fenugreek didn't work for you. I sure wished I had of read your post at the beginning when you first posted.
Which formula are you using? I think there are so many choices of formula, at least it is better of choices than when we were that age. Of course, I know you really wanted to breastfeed your baby. I can truly understand how you feel.
About me,
I have two little girls, Michaela is going to be 6 years old on August 13th (next Wednesday), and my other girl,Millicent, is 17 months old. My first child didn't breast feed. I didn't have the support I needed to nurse my baby. I had also had a c-section with her and by the time I got to bond with her, she had finished off two bottles of formula. When I asked the nurse to help teach me to breastfeed my baby, she just told me to force the nipple in my baby's mouth, needless to say, it didn't work, my baby had no interest in nursing since it was more work than the bottle. I was so sad and so depressed, I felt like I had failed.
About the reason I didn't have support, my family members, except my husband were busy trying to tell me that I could not give my baby enough milk since I have small breasts. I felt so inadequate.
With my second child, I had a completely different experience. My baby was born 6 weeks early, weighed only 4 lbs, 8 ounces and was so skinny, I had no idea I was even in labor until about 20 minutes before she was born. I had her in the hospital, my Dad took me since my husband was stuck at work, by the time my husband got there, it was time to push, it was perfect timing.
As soon as my baby was born, my nurse handed me the baby and put her to my breast and she began to suckle. I was amazed. Even at that size, she was nursing. Of course, I had not much milk the first day, but the next week after I borrowed the hospital pump to increase my supply, I had more milk than I knew what to do with. I was very happy and I felt bonded to my baby quickly. With her being born early, the Pediatrician watch us closely to make sure my child got enough milk. When it was time to go for the well-baby checkup, she was gaining her weight properly.
I have been on both sides so I can truly understand how you feel.
Shabat, I live in Texas, in the Dallas area to be precise. My husband and I have been married for 8 years.
I hope to hear from you soon, Take care,
Nina
