Due Date Club July 2005:Arti---india trip

Hi Arti,
The things to be taken to India (points to remember )are:
1) Medicines & Baby lotions: Tylenol,Mylicon,Pedialyte, baby lotions, cotton balls, saline drops, vicks baby rub, nasal bulbs, thermometer, earplug(?),etc. Don't forget to take the immunization record.I took only tylenol in my cabin bag & the rest in check in bag.
2) bottles & bottle liners.Do take extra sterelized nipples
3)Water: No water allowed on planes.I had to buzz 4 or 5 times for water.I had to get up & go near the kitchen several times for water.
In India, if possible ask ur parents & ur inlaws to install aquaguard reverse osmosis systems. It is supposed to be the best purifier.I used to boil the water. My baby didn't fall sick even once while we were there.I didn't rely on the mineral water bottles.
3)Fruits & Vegetables:Don't give mangoes & avoid raw sprinkled cilantro if possible.Avoid street food.
4)Mosquitoes: Nowadays, there is chicken gunya scare in south India. So,better keep the goodnight liquid repellants on for 24 hrs if possible.I even purchased ultrasonic mosquito repellants from an Indian store.I used to apply odomos on his clothes.Deet that we get in U.S works fine too.U cud also put nets.
5)Blankets: I just put the receiving blanket on the seat that they gave & a small blanky on top of him.I also borrowed one more to put on top.
6)Potty seats:If u want to potty train, its easier to do so in India
7)Travel:Ask your fellow passengers to close the windows if u r travelling in buses to avoid the dust.If u r travelling in cars, keep the windows shut & AC on to avoid dust & germs. Always carry purell & wet wipes.
I also took gerber foods (easiest of all) for feedings during travel.Give him bottle or pacifier during take off & landing.
Rgds

Breast pumps
I am using a medela pump to feed my baby when I am out. The medela breast pumps are really a good choice for the working moms. We can pump the milk regularly and can store it and use whenever needed.... - dalewhither [View Message]
evenflo elan breast pump
Buy this pump! It’s made my life so much easier. I always got sore with my old Medela Advanced, but that never happens with the Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump. What really makes a difference is its ease of use. It’s really easy to switch between pumping phases and take apart to clean. Strongly recommend it for all mothers that pump daily.... - stellatylor [View Message]

try this
As we discussed earlier in this forum I used magnetic alphabets , through which he has learnt alphabets within a week. And number within 4 days.
It is as like take the letter and stick to it where ever he goes more and ask him to search a particular letter. this worked very well for me.
all the best... - Manju [View Message]
