Speech:Anybody with PDD-NOS
2009-04-23
Name: Ram B

Hi,

We live in USA and we have a 2 1/2 old son who' s diagnised as PDD-NOS ( Pervasive Developmental Disorders - Not Otherwise Specified ) a few days back.

He' s just on the border line - only Speech Delay, Repetitiveness and does not always respond when called his name.

We were told to go for Speech Therapy. However, we have been thinking to send him ( along with his mother and if required even I' m going to relocate ) to India where he has got everybody. We would like to continue Speech Therapy and PlaySchool in India.

Does anybody here has had experience with this? We' re from Hyderabad originally.

-Thanks,
Ram.

Pervasive Developmental Disorders sounds to be a very serious thing. Can you explain what it is and what are the possible treatments for kids who have it? Is it possible for adults to have this disorder and are the treatments different?

I do not have any first hand experience about this but i think you should take him to a doctor as soon as possible and consult him as ask him if speech therapy would be helpful in his case ad if yes start it immediately.

Speech/language delay - 2.3 yr old boy
Hello Everyone

Our 28 months old boy is not speaking simple 2 or 3 word sentences yet. He speaks a few words such as mama, papa, aunty etc but definitely not more than 10. Also, he doesn't understand slightly longer sentences, even when we speak slowly and enact it such as "we'll go out after we eat". Otherwise, he appears perfectly normal. Hints for Nursing
