Speech:Anybody with PDD-NOS

Name: Ram B

Hi,

We live in USA and we have a 2 1/2 old son who' s diagnised as PDD-NOS ( Pervasive Developmental Disorders - Not Otherwise Specified ) a few days back.

He' s just on the border line - only Speech Delay, Repetitiveness and does not always respond when called his name.

We were told to go for Speech Therapy. However, we have been thinking to send him ( along with his mother and if required even I' m going to relocate ) to India where he has got everybody. We would like to continue Speech Therapy and PlaySchool in India.

Does anybody here has had experience with this? We' re from Hyderabad originally.

-Thanks,
Ram.

Ram,
Even my 2 1/2 year old son has been diagonized with PDD-NOS. It will be good if we can share our experiences with each other. We have started with Speech Therapy but are yet to see any benefits as he is constantly crying and throwing tantrums during these sessions.

Speech/language delay - 2.3 yr old boy
Hello Everyone

Our 28 months old boy is not speaking simple 2 or 3 word sentences yet. He speaks a few words such as mama, papa, aunty etc but definitely not more than 10. Also, he doesn't understand slightly longer sentences, even when we speak slowly and enact it such as "we'll go out after we eat". Otherwise, he appears perfectly normal. Hi All,

My son is less than 4 and has been diagnosed to be on the autism spectrum. He is non-verbal. We are taking him for OT and ABA/speech therapy.

Meanwhile, I read about an Ayurvedic hospital called Kerala Samajam hospital in Shoranur. Has anyone gone there for treatment? Any reviews?

Hints for Nursing
Babies eat and eat and eat. Although nature has done a pretty good job of providing you and your baby with the right equipment, in the beginning it's almost guaranteed to be harder than you expected. From sore nipples to tough latch-ons, nursing can seem overwhelming.
