Due Date Club November 2003:Pain in lower abdomen?

Hi everyone,
How are you all doing? Well, since last few days I am not feeling so well. I have been having lower abdomen pain, whenever I am walking or standing for more than few minutes. It's so much while I am sleeping and try to turn the sides. Has any of you felt this? I have talk to my doctor and she said it's normal, since baby is gaining weight, it's becoming hard for you to carry the baby.
Also, my feet hurt like anything by night time. I have tried everything from having a box underneath my desk at work, and rest my legs on it throughout the day. But, it hurts so much that I cry sometimes. My husband massages at night then only I am able to go to sleep.
Please share your comments, I really need help.
Thanks
Arshiya

Simmi,
Thanks for the compliment, but it's not my real name. I wanted my daughter (if I would have a daughter) to have this name. For leg cramps, I get it almost everynight but just have few pillows underneath your calf and also when you are getting cramps, try to move your toes towards you and it will automatically go away. I used to jump out of the bed too, but doing this really helps.
Khushi,
Thanks for the advice. I already use 5 pillows, that has helped me little. I will try to sleep on south side now.
Radhika,
I know, I will try to stay happy and forget about the pain. I am sure it's all worth it.
Simmi replied. Lovely name Arshiya! Well, I too suffer from lower abdomen pain and mostly when I am walking or standing. Also, I get terrible cramps in my lower legs at night or early morning. Forcing me to jump out of bed to stand on them. Is there anyone suffering from the same and is there any other solution apart from jumping?? Thx.
Preethu replied. Hi Arshiya
I have the same symptoms too ,i feel too heavy and pain lower abdomen and specially i feel very tired and my body aches when i go to bed , my feet also pains a lot , though i tried very soft slippers . As some one down here mentioned try lots of pillows .
I hope it gets better , Dr also told me its because of baby Weight .

Priya replied. Hey Arshiya,
I had similar symptoms last week, only a milder version, I think. I realized that the days i had a lot of leg ache were also the days I spent a lot of time on my feet (at work, and then at home). Resting helps. A pillow under my tummy while sleeping also helps. I did read somewhere that calcium deficiency might contribute to leg ache during this period of pregnancy. So load up on the milk.

Avi replied. Hey Arshiya, I experience a similar pain too (it's actually a pulling sensation - the feelign is hard to explain) and as my day at work and school gets longer, it gets worse and by the end of the day I feel the (pulling) sensation even all the way down near the vaginal area. My doctor did an internal exam to check it out and didn't find anything. She said it could be the round ligament pain (like Radhika mentioned)...
My advise would be to get lots of rest whenever you can, it sure does help me.

khushi replied. Hi Arshiya,
Actually i'm due on sept 3rd so not on this forum but when i saw ur message i thought a little advice from a person 2 months ahead of u will benefit. Actully it happens with all the pregnant women & u can't do much 'bout it. But to avoid it to some extent u can use lots of pillows while sleeping & believe me it helps. Now the days i'm sleeping with 6 pillows & u know my husband laughs whenever he gave me the pillow he said first u were the queen of my heart only now u become real queen with so many pillows. ha ha ha..u know one more thing if u take the pain lightly & laugh all the time even in the pain it helps too..u husband could be a great support to u in this time. It's really great if ur husband gave u massage i couldn't sleep till my husband rubs on my lower back. So it's good for u.
as far sa pillows r concerned, put one or two pillow underneath ur legs coz in pregnancy there is less circulation of blood & if u elevate ur legsu can sleep easily & put one pillow behind ur back 7 under ur tummy it will help u to change the side while sleeping. Someone told me that if u sleep with ur feet on south side it will help . I just did the same thing & it worked for me coz they say their is theory of magnetic poles behind it. I don't know 'bout the theory but it worked for me. See If it worked for u or not..
I hope it will help
Good Luck with ur pregnancy & have fun
khushi
Radhika replied. Arshiya,
So sorry to hear about the pains and aches.. I am in the same boat where swollen and hurting feet are concerned. None of the remedies seem to work, and standing on my feet for more than 15 minutes is sure to give me swollen achy feet. The Doctor says this is something that we just have to live with (all that weight gain).
About the abdominal pain, it could be lower round ligament pain. The ligaments that hold our uterus in the abdomen have to stretch and that can get siginificantly uncomfortable. Unfortunately there's not much that can be done about this either. But if the pain persists or gets worse, do let your doctor know again.
I am sure you've heard most of this elsewhere, but that's my two cents on it. Stay happy and good things will come to you (in small little wailing packages ;-)).

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.
