Hi Archie

Archie i was on clomid this month again this is my 3rd month on clomid first two cycles i tried 50 mg and then this cycle doc gave me 100mg and all 3 cycles no ovulation happened. i did opk and it was negative all three times...i am really worried and wondering why ovulation is not happening....if you read any of my previous msgs on this board you will know my history which was irregular periods pcos and then was having bleeding n between my periods...now since i started clomid the inbetween period bleeding has stopped....

basically i am concerned why ovulation is not happening even with clomid...i am going to visit my doc today since today is my 34 day and no sign of period ...i did preg test and it was negative like i thought it would be since no ovulation happened...

do u think it would be advisable for me to take a break frm clomid for a few cycles and try on my own or shd i continue with doc treatment...i am confused ...pls give me ur opinion

Dear Neha,
If not in full at least in some parts I am aware of your case.
Since on clomid you are not ovulation it's clear that you won't be needing only clomid treatment.
Yes, series of ultrasounds will help nail ovulation.

More than that a visit to Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE) would help knowing how are the reproductive hormones doing in your case.

The failure to clomid treatment might have to do with extreme degree of PCOS and in that case clomid alone will not make miracle happen.

talk to your Dr. and let me know.

thanks hopingfortejas for sharing your similar story with Neha.

Hey ...

my case is very similiar to yours .ialso did not ovulate on 50/100mg of clomid ... BTW , hope you are getting your ultrasounds done ??

ideally, you should have one maybe on 3/4/5th day before starting clomid to make sure that there are no cysts from the previous cycle ..and then another on on 13/14/15 day to see if your follicles are mature enough ...

going just by OPK for cases like ours is not enough ...

also, after i only ovulated on 150mg of clomid and that cycle also failed .... i went to an endrocrinologist from a gynec ..she did more regular monitrong and we found out that some hormones were not in balnce ..

after taking those tablets for ~2months ,i again started clomid (100mg) ... and guess what i had 2 follicles and got conceived naturally ..now i am `11 weeks pregnant ...

so discuss these options with your doctor before going on another round of clomid ...

good luck,
-P
