Hi, my daughter is 1yr and 4months, following is my her diet just wanna know if it needs change or its fine.
1. morning she would have 200 ml milk
2. breakfast she would take 1 bowl cerelac
3. lunch she takes rice with dals and some veggies.
4. evening she again eats cerelac
5. night for dinner again rice
6. and 200ml milk before sleep

i feel i should replace cerelac with something else but she doesnt chew the food just gulps its even though she has some teeth but as she is ok with her weight and health i am not worried much but still people keep on saying that i should stop her cerelac can you suggest any food that i can replace her cerelac with or if i can continue it for some more months till she starts chewing the food.

regards
shraddha

Subject:  My Daughter's Eating Schedule

Hi shraddhaa..
I can share with u my daughter's eating schedule. She too is 1 yr and 4 mth old now. I am still breast feeding her during the nights.
1. Morning she has half or 3/4th teac cup milk.(Not everyday only if she gets up earliy like 8 in the morn).
2. B/F : I have powdered Health Mix (Mix of 12 cereals + pulses)at home. Mix 2 teaspoons of this powder wit 2 cup milk and cook on low flame for 5-7 mins (after boil).
Lunch : Rice_Dal+Veg(preferably beans & carrot Beat or potatoa occasionally). I grind this slightly in the mixer since they do not chew at this age. Weekly thrice har - boiled egg yolk. Weekly once 1 piece Chicken , few days in a week Fish(whiecver is made at home)
Eve snacks: Banana (bigger ones , speciality of Kerala - doesnt get cold as well) cooked , mash this in milk nd make a paste in mixer.
Dinner : White Oats / Rice+Dal+Veg

I wil suggest u to give cerelac only once ,, And go for home made foods more.

My daughter too is 1 year 8 months and I too go through the same questions almost daily. Just that my daughter didnt like cerelac and instead eats Farex(Wheat Egg-source of vital proteins). I guess Cerelac and farex can be continued till they are 2 years old. To try any other food they need to learn to chew the food, else it becomes difficult for them to even just gulp some food.

Her choice and taste keeps changing. Sometimes I give her apple juice in the mid morning and maggi noodles instead of farex at times. She sometimes eats upma, semia, avalakki during breakfast. However one thing about kids, is that they dont like consistency.

Some advise to give banana or any other fruit either as it is or as juice.
