hi

my son is 1 yr and 1 month... and im thinking of habing another one! i had a c section the first time.. my Q

1. Is it ok to have another one now - as i had a c sec only a year back
2. i have been taking folic acid since the last 1 week is it ok? or shd i take it for 1 full cycle before trying. as my fertile period starts in a day or 2..

pls advice

1.It would be your OB who did C-section should tell if it's OK or not. Normally you should be fine to conceive and carry to full term after six months of C-section if the surgery was done in USA.

2.You can take folic acid 1mg/day not only for a week or cycle but until you get pregnant and your OB advise you to.

If you have been having a good diet (green leafy veges, orange juice, whole beans) you should be okay with folic acid. The first 6-8 weeks of gestation (from LMP) are crucial for neural tube development. That's when the folate is most important. If you want to be very sure then you could wait for a month. If nothing else, it will give you peace of mind.

Good luck. The kids will be spaced perfectly!

I am not medically qualified to say anything about c-section. Your OB will have the best answer.
