Hi,
My son is 8 months old. We are in India right now since the 2nd week of feb. I carried his water for the first week and changed to bisleri water later. Ever since the change he is having a semi solid/liquidish bowel movement after every feed during the day but not during the night feed.
we took him to the ped here and he suggested \";Oflomac MN\"; which is composition of ofloxacin and metronidazole benzoate. He also suggested that I shld stop enfamil and rice cereal and give him gangi/dal-water/curds/coconut water and I have not introduced these foods to him so far. I have also not given the medicine he suggested.I am confused and scared to follow advice. I looked up on the net and webmd suggestes that this drug shld not be given to infants. Pl help.

both these medicines are antibiotics and can be harsh on children. Metronidazole alone may be preferable.when giving antibiotic always give with a probiotic like lactic acid bacteria, bifilac is a common brand.give antibiotic and probiotic atleast 1 hour apart.



It is essential to give filtered and then boiled water to infants.

hi,
i feel it may not be neccessary to give those med..do take another opinion..wehni went to india with my baby twice..i also took water from here..after it got over,i used to boil bisleri.and there wasn't any pblm.it is quite normal ti hv semi solid liqudish..try to give apple sauce.this will normalize bowel movement.
