Breastfeeding:question regarding expressed milk !

Name: Rashmi

My baby is 6 days old and i have been feeding her expressed milk from the begining due to problems with latching on. She doesnt seem to be taking in my nipple deep enough ... im hoping i will succeed by trying continuously. Meanwhile I am expressing milk by pumping and milk supply seems to be pretty good so far. However i have few questions regarding expressing...
as of now i am feeding her every 3 hours .. is that right?
What is the quantity of breastmilk i shud be feeding her ?? 2 ounce? 3 ounce ? 4 ounce ??
I want to be sure i am not under-feeding her or over-feeding... When u are feeding from breast you know when your baby is full but when u put milk in bottle and offer babies tend to take in everything that is offered right ??
Any inputs, suggestions are welcome regarding this . I did not want to offer bottle to her but then she needs food while i continue to latch her on to my breast.
thankx,
rashmi

first, position you baby properly. keep him your bed side and touch his cheeks with your nipple, he will automatically turn towards the nipple and start sucking. dont use your hand to turn his face toward because if u do that he will definitely turn his face the opposite side. if u touch the left cheek he will turn left side. so just gently touch his cheeks with your nipple. this is called rooting reflex. stay close to him. hug him. always put him next to u. this will also help. xpressing and giving him is v.difficult and he will get used to that and it will be difficult for u to change the habit. its ok if u feed him for 3 hrs. but dont delay it longer. if he demands in lesser than 3 hrs feed him on his demand. see how many times your baby passes urine. if it is 6 to 8 times in the day and 2 times at night, then his intake is sufficient. if he passes stools often then also his intake is sufficient. so dont worry. keeping himclose [it is called rooming in] will really help the baby suck. if u want to feed him sitting also its ok. but remember please do not feed your baby anything else other than breast milk. no water no honey, no sugar water. these are all harmful to your baby. this is also responsible for your baby not drinking from the mom. till 6mon the baby should be on exclusive breast feeding, nothing other than mom's milk. dont worry. everything will be allright

if you want him to turn towards left touch his left cheek with your nipple. and the same way the other side. when u keep him close your nipple will automatically touch his cheek.

RE:Adult nursing relationship
I was not breastfeed in my childhood hence the idea of sucking and feeding from a woman's full, engorged breasts has infatuated me. It is a fantasy that drives me wild like nothing else, just the thought of laying my head in a woman's lap while she brings her swollen nipples to my mouth. Ideally, I'd like to finally explore this with the right female. If you are in or near... - Sanjayhyd [View Message]
