Hi, My five month old has dandruff and it's so itchy for him. Do you girls have any home remedy or any other medicine? I've been using Olive and Coconut oil, but both didn't seem to be of help. Please help! Any help will be much appreciated.

Hi,

My baby had cradle cap too. The ped asked me to apply baby oil on the scalp and slowly brush with a soft-bristled tooth brush. Sounds harsh... but did it a couple of times and the scalp was clear. Just have to be very very gentle and use soft bristled brush. I do this once a week just as a preventive measure.
Hope this helps!!

Hi Vindya,
Same here....the cradlecrap has moved down to cheeks too. It's so hard to see our baby in such a state. I tried Sebulex and it didn't help either. I checked with Ped Derm, and he asked me not to use Sebulex for long time on the scalp. Because, babies scalp is so tender and it absorbs the chemicals in the shampoo which is harsh..So please don't use it often. I'm hoping our little ones will get better soon.

I agree with Ishani about removing it gently. My baby's ped is too rough, he just scraped it off with his fingers, it even bled a little. He asked us to be very aggressive, but I just couldn't do it. Sebulex didn't work either(I thought may be it would work for other babies), so he asked us to switch to Aveeno baby bath treatment. It works to some extent, but the dandruff keeps coming back. So, we are using hydrocortisone lotion to prevent it from coming. Anyway, my baby's skin condition is a little complicated, so do try to massage with oil and see if it works. I believe, it'll go off on its own by the time they are a year old. So, good luck.

Even my baby had those whitey flakes/dandruff and I was using Sebulex shampoo every other day. Apply olive/baby oil and leave it for 15 minutes and then try to scrap the flakes off. My baby's cradle crap had spread to her cheeks as well, so do try to remove them off soon. Ofcourse, consult the doctor before you take any step.

Hope it helps,
Vindhya

Hi Sumana,
Thanks for replying! I consulted the ped and she said it was dandruff and asked me to use T-sal medicated shampoo. We have been using it for months and see no change. He scratches his scalp a lot and gets infected. How did u'r son's scalp get cured? Please let me know. thanks in advance!
