Due Date Club September 2001:Labour & delivery

Hi All,
Thankx to everyone for ur best wishes.
ever since Khushi, has come i dont find much difference between day & night. When she wakes, its day & when she sleeps i sleep.
I went to hospital on 29th august in the evening & they started with cervical insertion/ something with a string was in serted into my cervix & i slept that night.
No more fod or drinks now..... In the morning they started inducing me & i was 2 cms when they started. At around 2 O clock in aftenoon dr broke my waterbag. In the evening around 5 O clock i needed Epidurel so then i was given &
at 12 O clock midnight i was 81/2 cmsdilated. Both of us were so happy & dreaming of having a happy normal delivery & or angel with us in a short while.
Dr came to check & i was not dilating any more. i was also not able to push & when i tried hard the baby didnt move. My temperature
was also rising & dr told me her firm decision for a c- Section. I was shocked & asked her time for 1/2 hour more.
she came back later & checked but i was same & she said she cant take further risk as the baby may get infection. Infact she thought the baby's head was too big & the baby was also big
for normal delivery anyway.i was in so much of shock & the c section was done. when i heard the first cry of Khushi i was also crying that she is with us at last. & her voice is similar to mine.( Loud & open)good for singing.........
This shock & tiredness was with me & i was not at prepared to feed khushi or take care of her. so i saw her & surprisingly she was so cute!! & later send her to nursery.i still wanted to hold her & hug her but some how i was scared what if she asks for milk & i cant feed her.
I was without food for last 2 days & the day of operation too they kept me only on liquids that day. Afternoon around 12 O clock i wanted to just have her & decided if she cried ill send her to nursery. I was holding the littleone &just never wanted her to be away even for a while.
Believe me she is extremely cute & most special person in our life. All i ve been thru is worth it.
I wasnt able to feed her next 2 days but later lactatione nurses helped me & now i just do breast feeding
i am taking most of the rest i can so that the stiches heal faster.
Moreover ive got severe back pain too so keeping rest only helps. chalo then more later

Dear all,

My experience is very similar to Nikki. But I think I was put on lot of medication all through the labour.
I got admitted on 4th evening and natural cotractions started to come. And hence doctor did not try the medicine. They waited till morning and I was in labor over the night. Could not sleep. In the morning I was just 3 cm. Then the doctor came around 9am and decided to start the pitocin. In the night they started IV, One infection medicine, Insulin, And Glucose. My hand had a Cristmast tree like tubes connected. My mother was not able to see me in such a state. Through out the night they were checking my BP and Sugar every half an hr. Then after Pitocin started The contraction became really strong.. The doctor broke my bag around 12PM. After that till 4PM I had really bad time with the pains. Then doctor advised me to take epidural. And that made me really relaxed. I was 7cm then. The labour progressed and at 6pm I was 8 cms. Doctor gave me one more hr. But suddenly at 7pm the nurse observed that baby is stuck and heartbeat is going low. Doctor said sorry to me. I was fully dialed then. She said she dont want to tkae risk and i was rushed to the OT for the C-Section. I saw little one in 23 mins.. and I was crying. Doctor also cried with me. My DH was holding him when Stiches were being put. I thought is he our son?
I thought he was the most beautiful baby on this world. My husbadn was really crying ..
Then I was allowed to hold him after I was out off OT.
It was wonderful moment in my life. My mom was really worried for me. She saw the baby and she also had tears in eyes. It was so tocuhing.

I am still recovering from the C-Section. Nikki, There has to be some connection of taking insulin with the dialation. My baby was not big. He was just 7 pounds and 5 aunces. ANd head got stuck but head is also not that big. It was just a bad luck !
Anyways, now im really happy with NISHANT!!
Anupama, Congratulations to U also.
Take care
PRiya

Hey Priya, i dont know if there is any connection with insulin but in my case i was to be delivered before it was time for natural birth & arificially it will always be matter of chance to get dialated or no...
that too before the term is full. Ya i am happy with khushi but i had lot of depression first few days in hospital as i knew my entire condition was favourable for normal delivery. I guess in my case the epidurel was started too soon. around at 4 cms so later i hardly got any urge etc.... I was too numb to even lift my legs. anyways i cant do anything about this. I discussed with my SIL who is dr in India & i got courage & faith when she told me "whatever was done is proper." Infact if it was in india they wud not wait so much they wud do it 1 day earlier as there r chances of baby geting stuck & then they have to do c-section & push the baby for normal delivery.....it wud be terrible then. anyways chalo then will post on board of parents of babies & keepin touch there

Hi Niki,

It was very helpful to read your L and D experience. I am sure now that one can not do anything if C-section has to happen. 100% dialation is not in once's hand. We just have to pay god. I am getting mentally prepared for C-section after reading that u and priya both had C-section. I think we have to do whatever is best for baby and for urself!!! I can not imagine myself 2 days without food !!! U are really great.

Take care of urself. love to Khushi.

Sakhi

Stem cell banking on with life cell
yes Life cell is the best, when ourbabygirl was due in Feb 2011 we shortlisted Lifecell after meeting Cyrobanks, Relicord, Babycord etc. Cyrobanks are thugs they promise you the moon and also there is no indian hand in this company so we can' t rely on them at all. Relicord is good but the offers have so much marketing gimmicks. Other players lacks either the technical inf... - CK [View Message]

Good Gynae in Dwarka
Hi

I am new to dwarka and want to know if there is any good doctor having her clinic here (I expect them to be visiting some good hospotal).

I know some good doctors in gurgaon like Dr Chetna Jain (Columbia Asia), Dr Manvita (Max).

but can anybody suggest someone in dwarka as gurgaon would be far for emergency situations.
