Hi,i just got this idea that let's all contribute any good healthy&rich recipe passed down by our grandmoms&mom&ma-in-laws to nurture&bloom this pregnancy.
I have no specific recipe to offer but here r some tips passed down by my sis&friends:
For those who don't enjoy milk ,prepare custard once a fortnight&have it with all the fruits u may not eat by choice but once chopped u can have it as a tasty dessert.
Similarily chopp assorted fruits+whip fresh cream with little sugar over an ice tray for 1-2mins&mix all into a bowl &freeze for 2-3 hrs&have for a rich dessert.
i have a recipe with mango pulp, cheese&milk can't find it right now, will post it for those interested.
A HEALTHY SNACK rich in fibre&protein is apply a paste of cream cheese&sugar on a hot chapathi, roll&eat.
Snack on a few gms of dry fruits daily.
I have heard north indians make some mix with desi ghee, dry fruits&atta, can any one share this if u know?
I tried the palak soup mentioned in this board&do agree it is a good way to consume palak.
I also try out diff salads every alternate day to eat some fresh veggies like carrot, cucumber, sprouts.
Can anyone suggest sprout recipes?
i either eat raw/as a mild sabzi with roti's or as a snack.
My doc suggested boiling milk with saffron&pista, badam pwdr and chilling&drinking!
As i remeber i wil ladd more but hope to hear more from all of you!
After we r thru with diet issues lets discuss bay stuff to buy, where&what!
Happy times till then,bye!

Subject:  About saffron

Hi all,
I also come to know from my mom that saffron is very hot and should not taken by us.But even if u want I think u can take 1-2 strands soaked in milk.
I will also ask my mom about panjiri .But that is for post delivery purpose in order to regain ur energy lost in delivery.

Take care,
Bye
Nikki

Hi Manvi,
i am in my 21'st week. and going to bombay on this 30th. good to know that u liked the palak soup recipe. i take it on alternate days.
regarding the north indian recipe of ghee, atta, dry fruits, it is called \";panjiri\";
but this has to be consumed only after the delivery and not during pregnancy.coz it's very hot for our body.
i dont know the recipe. but shall post it here when i reach bombay.
till then take care.
bye

Subject:  My Diet

Hi Girls,

This is what my frends suggested.

Have atleast 10-20 almonds a day. Can soak and cut to pieces and put in cereal in breakfast. Also can presoak saffron in milk and add to cereal.
Having a heavy cereal is a good start for the day.

Have 3-4 cups Milk/Curd/Soy Milk a day.
Have 2-3 slices of cheese daily.
Have 2 slices of whole wheat Bread.
Then anyway we will have rotis and rice
Have anyone of the three EVERYDAY Spinach/Collard Green(VERY GOOD) or Broccolli
In addition try to have one more veg.
Have anyone of these also everyday Chole/Rajma/MoongDal/ToorDal
Have 2-3 fruits everyday

This may sound too much to eat I agree.
It means eating 6 times a day in moderate proportions.
I felt so full and feel like vomitting to eat so much, gradually our tummy gets used to it.
The key is to keep eating and feel full all the time.
I have been eating rich diet since 2 weeks and feeling really good and healthy.
Hope u all can try too.
Pls keep more ideas and recipes coming.
Thanks to manvi for starting this topic

Susan,
Yes maybe its little hard to digest and heavy. Initially it was tough for me now got used to it, my frends told they have 10-20 a day so I also didnt think a lot. Saffron I started having from 4th month only, that too only 3-4 strands a day thats all.
I am not sure if its bad... Anyone correct me please....

Hi Bargavi,
Ur suggestions r very useful. Thx for the same. I wanted to point out one thing that u hv mentioned to consume 10-20 almonds a day. But almonds r very very heaty and I dont think its good to hv those many almonds every day (even for non-pregnant people). I think its okay to take 4-5 almonds. But dont think its a good idea for 10-20. Saffron too is very heaty, so should not be taken everyday. Pls. correct me if I am wrong but this is what I hv heard and read. Thx. Bye
