Just delivered my baby daughter on 2nd March by C-Section.
I am walking around properly, taking baths and feeding my baby,,,
The problem is that I am running fever of around 100F. My doc checked everything and said that it;s because of wweekness. I am trying to take care of myself but baby is keeping me awake most of the times and changin the nappies keeps me really occupied. I am gettin really worried about the fever. Is it normal?
What can be the reason?

Only thing that I am suspecting is the sore nipples . I had flat nipples, used a nipple shield and now the baby is latching on. She does latch on to the aerola but it hurts like crazy because she starts loosing the hold and latches on to just the nipple. I almost shudder at every feed and therefore am becoming reluctant about feeding. Could cracked and sore nipples be the reason for fever???

RMP replied. You could have a breast infection called Mastitis. It happens when the breast in not empty after a feeding. The milk ducts get too full and become inflamed. This leads to bacteria and then infection. Your breast should be painful and hot when you touch them. You can try massaging them, a hot shower and pumping the extra milk. You will probably need a antiboitic to cure the infection. jess replied. cracked nipples won't give you fever...your baby may be latching on wrong, make sure her mouth is WIDE when latching on and bottom lip is curled under, most if not all areola(dark part around nipple) should be in mouth depending on size..keep in mind you will have some cracking and soreness maybe even scabes for 1st few wks..you are toughening up.my 1st baby was a horrible expierience i would even bleed because she was latching on wrong..no one told me how..my 2,3,&4th babies were great,all pain was gone after about 3or4 weeks.air helps! let your nipples have fresh air between feedings(if your at home of course!)and lanolin works wanders!slather on after each feeding 100% safe for baby,also squeeze a little milk and rub into nipple after feeding and let air dry..i hope this helps with the nipple problem now for the fever the other lady was right in the fact that you should check for hard knots,redness,etc.usually if you have an infected duct you will also have bodyaches,and or chills,if any thing like that forms call your dr. hope i could help..don't give up it'll get easier,i promise!your baby thanks you! svijay replied. hi

im no expert but delivered thro c sec on feb 28th and had exactlythe same problem as u.. including flat nipples.

1. fever - express yr milk couple of times during the day ie. if yr baby has not had enough. feel yr breasts do they feel hard? do u feel the glands? if yes pls express the milk. also massage yr breasts everytime after you feed. for a good 10mts. use a hot water bag and continue massaging. also check if there is any redness or boils aroumd the breast area. if yes you may be developing glands. ifnone of this exist it may be post op stress.
2. nipple shield - not the solution for flat nipples. i used the same and it becomes very diff to weane them of the same. paediatritions dont recommend the use of shield for a long time as it interferes with weight gain, also if u use a breast pump just before u feed it will pull yr nipples out and u can have a regular feed.
