I am trying to concieve from last 1 yr but my doc told me that prolactin hormone level is high and have started give me medication , which has lot of side efects. I am worried if i will be able to conceive or is this a curable situation.Pls help.

Hi,

Abt 2 yrs back, I was diagnosed with a case of high prolactin levels 67.67 which was way above the norm of a single digit figure(don't remember what the okay-level is) and was prescribed proctinal by my doc then. I attribute my high levels to stress. However, I've gone onto to conceive and am now the mother of a three month old baby boy. So, don't worry.

Hi Archie,
I am abserving this site from quite few days,, U r really keeping this message board active. Bcoz here people are not so active even if they ask some question and some one answer for it,, No one cares to reply for that replied persion sometimes .people like me and you always want to share our experinece.. So never mind whether they reply or not..
Can u tell me about u? are u trying for baby? or allready have one baby and trying for another one? Just curious..I wish u may all ur dream come true!!

Hope u have checked for thyroid hormone and everything normal..
If u have regular period then u dont need to worry.. Try to find out ur fertile days..U can check by ovulation prediction kits or u can take BBT..But disadvantage of BBT is that it wont tell u when u r going to ovulate but it gives u the ovulation date when u ovulated.. If u are regular then after 2/3 months u can come to know about ur menustrual pattern..It's only helfful to give u an idea whether u r ovulating..

Ovulation kit is best method as u can come to know when u ovulate probably so that u can make love during those days..suppose u have 28 days cycle then ovulation can happen arround 14th day.. so u can start testing 3/4 days prior to 14th day..when ovulation test comes +ve..then ovulation will be predicted anywhere between 24-36 hours later of first LH serge..
Dont get stressed... (I know this is the main cuase when people like me who are trying for quite a long time to be stressed..then it itself causes some delay ).. Try to be cool..have faith..It will happen.. I wish u all the best.. Tell me when u get good news I will be happy for u..

Hi Archie,
Congrats on ur pregnency. I wish u h&h pregnency.. I partly agree with u ... It will be happy to share knowladge.. But this is the message board not the section like "Ask experts"..where u only ask the questions and get away the answer without replying. I am not saying say thanx to the people who replied. But is it not the human tendency to say something to some one who replied to them? I know in India talking about fertility issue is not so open.. Still they feel fertility is not at a problem.. I guess most of the people on this board are staying abroad.. So this board is open form at least people should be little active.. THis is good opportunity to talk.. if the people have some proble they can find the people who are going through all this or had gone through all this.. U can talk to them sometimes instead one way communication like asking question and keep quite.. Say some thing.. Ok it's my openion that message board should not be dumb like this only question answer like this..

Hi Kavi,
TSH is essential to maintain in normal levels before and throughout the pregnancy. It will not only pose problems to get pregnant but if you get pregnant then you are running at high risk of miscarriage, fetal developmental problems and some time to yourself. Take seriously what Sachi said and discuss with your Dr about merits/demerits of your situation while getting pregnant and keeping it healthy until baby arrives.

I really hope Sachi you did not mind me adding this information.

Hi Kavi
Have ur doctor checked thyroid levels.. Sometimes high TSH(Thyroid stumilation levels) can also cause prolactine levels to rise.. High TSH is bcoz of defficiency of thyroid hormone.. SO try to get ur thyroid levels checked as soon as possible.. I am telling u this bcoz of my persional experience on that. When I went to Dr,they just prescribed me parlodel seeing my prolactine level high.. Then I also didnt know anything about it.. Then after 6 months I changed my doctor.. There they checked every hormone.. SO found out about hypothyroid. Now I am not taking that parlodel..It automatically corrcted bcoz I am taking medicine for hypothyroid.. So being hypothyroid makes very difficult to get pregnent.. So untearted can causes birth defect if one get pregnent without being treated.. Still I am trying for baby without luck..I wish u all the best..Baby dust to u..
