mom, m replying your ques here,,,the posts were getting too long...
since you have started As of now oatmeal & rice cereal ;Gerber veg - beans, peas, squah, sweet potato;Fruits - Applesauce, Pears, Banana.
its sure that your baby can take rice items..start those.
introduce whole moong , so that you have option to start rice with whole moong water (boil wholemonng, add some water, some salt if you are giving, a tadka of ghee with a curry leaf, remove the curryleaf when giving to baby)..
also start items like rice pancake, if your baby is graduated to lumpy foods..rice flour, add some oat flour to it ( since you have already introduced oatmeal, its made of oatflour,,),some water enough to make a dosa or pancakes acc to your baby likings. let it soak in dal or any of your baby fav vegies, fruits puree,,and once soft, offer to your baby.
since you have started with quite a good amt of vegies, make vegie soup of it,,make a bit thick but pureed and nicely seived so that baby doesnt choke. offer those.
since you have offered, potato, you can give potato halwa,,boil and mash them, put a ghee in pan, add sweet potato and a lite sprinkle of cardamom (optional),,,its a great halwa, without sugar.
boil all the vegies you offered, mix them nicely to smooth consistency, make little balls out of it,,store them, you can do that...add some salt and dried parsley flakes(just sprinkle abit) to prevent gas..its compltely safe.give it to your baby dipped with any vegetable stock...let him play with it,,its fun food for him,
for fruits, introduce other fruits like mango and onwards to getmoreotpions,,
mix banana, mango and pears,,its a great combination,,also banana nd prune goes great.
applesauce and pears go greattogether,,,add them together, add chopped banana, mash with fork,,start graduating your baby to lumpy foods..but make sure they are comfortable with it.
since he is 6 months, you can start lentils one by one like i said before whole moong, then moong dal, then toor dal..
also try moond dal khichadi,,mix moong dal and rice(if you are introducing first time, let the rice proportion be more than dal, then slowly, bring it to 1:1),,add the vegies you have introduced and its a great food.
also try fruit khichadi, rice, dal and your baby fav fruit,,gen pear and banana goes great with the taste and then also applesauce and squash goes good togethers...
add a bit ghee and offer to your baby,,make khichadi a bit more on water side rather than dry..babies at 6-7months like soft and soupy foods.
also have heard of people starting idli, dosa and stuffs like that, but i will not advice you that because it contains urad dal, and its heaviest of all dals. give that once your baby has tasted all the dals.
so take and good luck, lemme know if you have ne ques,

Hetal,

Thanks a lot. Really i am very happy after seeing ur reply. It will be very useful for me & i am sure my little one will like home made foods. I'll try one by one & let u know how my baby likes it.

I have one more ques..I gave my baby barley mixing it with applesauce. He seems to like it. Actually i started it on saturday..Yest, i saw some rashes in his body & face, so i stopped giving him barley today. My question is, Is this rash because of barley(this is the only new food i have introduced him now) & will the rash goes on it own or do i have to apply some cream?

Please reply..

Thanks,
Mom.

Subject:  hi,

do one thing about rash, since barley is the only food that you have introduced, there is a possibility that it might be the cause.
dont give for couple days, try after 1 week,,c if the rashes are back again..if so, then barley isnt right for your baby.
dont apply anything on rashes, ask your dr,,let your dr decide the kind of rash your baby had ! when it comes to allergies, rashes, rely on drs..let them c it and take their opinions.
good luck and you take care,
Regards.

Breast pumps
I am using a medela pump to feed my baby when I am out. The medela breast pumps are really a good choice for the working moms. We can pump the milk regularly and can store it and use whenever needed.... - dalewhither [View Message]
evenflo elan breast pump
Buy this pump! It’s made my life so much easier. I always got sore with my old Medela Advanced, but that never happens with the Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump. What really makes a difference is its ease of use. It’s really easy to switch between pumping phases and take apart to clean. Strongly recommend it for all mothers that pump daily.... - stellatylor [View Message]

try this
As we discussed earlier in this forum I used magnetic alphabets , through which he has learnt alphabets within a week. And number within 4 days.
It is as like take the letter and stick to it where ever he goes more and ask him to search a particular letter. this worked very well for me.
all the best... - Manju [View Message]
