Due Date Club November 2003:Movements (how often is normal ?)
2003-07-16
Name: Ritu .

Hi Everyone ,

I am based in Melbourne and have just joined the group . I am due on November 5 and have just started with week 25.I feel the movements only when I am sitting or resting and very rarely feel them during the day when I am busy. For the last few days I have felt movemnets just two or three times in the whole day. I wanted to know what is the frequency / intensity of the movements others in the group are feeling and if this should be a cause of concern. Please let me know. Thanks .

I am due at around the same time as you. From my personal experience, the baby has less and more active days. Some days, the movements are non-stop. The other days, its very few. It also depends on the position of the baby. If they are kicking inward, we don't feel them. From what I understand, there should be consistent movements week 28 onward. Up to that point, its OK not to feel the baby sometimes.

Hey Ritu, Welcome to the board. Hope you are enjoying your pregnancy.

Well, For the past two weeks I've been feeling the baby move a lot more than I used to. But, like you I feel the movements more when I am sitting (at work, school, car train etc) and also when I lie down. I dont feel them when I am moving around. I am in my 22nd week.

From all the postings I read on different boards, everyone experiences movements differently, some feel more and some less. Also, as the uterus grows and the baby has less space to move around, the number of movements you feel are much less.

My suggestion would be for you to talk to your doctor. Dont worry too much though, I am sure everything is fine. You should be worried if you dont feel any movement.

Take good care of yourself

Priya and Avi , Thanks for your replies. Hey Avi, I am really lucky as it is currently peak winters in Australia and I am able to conceal my tummy. Infact some of my acquaintances whom I meet about once a week still don't know.and by the way my movements are back. I guess I was getting worried for no reason.

Hey Ritu, My situation is very similar to yours. We waited 8 years (I got married really young-I couldn't wait :) ) before we decided that waiting for just the right time(when we are settled, when we have jobs, saved money etc etc)will keep us waiting forever and ever and the right time will never arrive. So, here we are and although I am a bit apprehensive about whether or not I will be a good mom, overall we are pretty excited about it.....I guess waiting does make the heart grow fonder :)

Just like you, I am very conscious about my growing tummy (it has grown quite a bit) too. Hot summer day and I am wearing a sweatshirt, so that says it all. I had gotten so used to having a flat (almost 6-pack) abs, it's hard for me to get used to seeing it blow up like a balloon. It's all for a good cause though, so it's all good.

Anyways, dont worry about the movements (like Priya said, it could be the postion of the baby, he/she could be kicking toward your back and not your stomach) and take good care of yourself and the little one inside you. 15 more weeks and it'll be a day to remember. :)

Dear Avi,

Thanks for your reply. I will also check with my doctor during my next appt. next week. We have been married for almost 6 yrs and had decided that we will have a baby only when we are really ready for it. But I guess that time never arrives, so we thought we must have one before I turn 30 and now are very happy about the whole thing. I do feel very conscious about the growing tummy which has started growing at an alarming pace for the last 3 weeks.

Thanks again.

Take Care

Diaper Service Provider,Bangalore
Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.

Thanks in advance
