Diya sucks her fingers a lot.I am not able to stop.Even if she has hand mittons ,she chews them.What about ur babies?
Jaya Simmi replied. Hi All. Shreya too puts her whole fist in her mouth. She loves sucking on it, even after a feed, sometimes it helps her wind, sometimes it helps her to sleep. I try to take it off her and try to distract her, sometimes it works sometimes not. But I think till the time they dont do it all the time and on one thumb only, it shouldn't have much bother.
I haven't tried pacifier, but did think she was teething cause of this hand sucking, and tried teethers, but she didn't like them. And I think that that when I thought she was teething, was a false alarm.

This is Rajni from the Dec board but my son Aditya was born in Nov itself. He sucks his fingers too. His ped has asked me to leave it as it is. Dont try to remove it coz if u do it 100 times, they'll again put it for teh 101st time. He says sucking of thumb is related to stress! can u imagine babies being stressed, well they are. there types of stress: sleepy, hungry, lonely. as one of u mentioned music sometimes helps.

Aditi also sucks her fist a lot. I have noticed she does it when she is really hungry or she is getting bored. Try diverting your little ones attention to something else like playing some music or try talking to them.It sometimes works for her. Mittens and pacifier doesn't work for aditi.

I have the same prob.. Soham also sucks his hands and mittens too. I always keep the mittens on cos I dont want him to bruise his hands. I have read that at about this age babies start discovering their hands and thats why they keep bringing them to their mouth.
