Due Date Club November 2003:Too much TV

Hi Girls,

Niya watches way too much TV, we can console her easily by switching ON the TV. She keeps staring at it without even blinking. Is it advisable to allow her to watch for a long time?

Hi Vidhya. Shreya too loves watching TV and moves her head towards it if we turn her back to it. I guess the sound and colors do the trick. Though I try not to have her watch it long too. She watched Sony Awards yesterday and she loved the desi music and dance...Shaleen is a TV addict with her cartoons and MTV...so with her school starting that is reducing. Let's hope Shreya dont become an addict....I am not too bad with telly but do watch some desi stuff.
Take care.

Hey Vindhya, Jaya and Radhi

We also have same problem. Ashna keeps staring at TV a lot too. So, we try to keep her back towards TV but she keeps turning towards TV. So, finally we reduced watching TV except when she is sleeping. Funny thing is we got her Baby Einstein DVD's, but she doesn't want to watch that more than 10 mins. I guess she will eventually learn to watch that. But for now she loves watching other TV programs:)
Vindhya, you can try these DVD's for Niya, maybe she will like them.

Take care
Arshiya

Hi Arshiya,

I bet even Niya would find those DVDs boring. She is becoming a fan of Sanjay Dutt, she loves the title song from Munnabhai:)

Hope all the TV-watching babies start watching their own stuff instead of bollywood movies or any other programs.

Hugs to Ashna,
Vindhya

Hi Jaya,

You are right, it's better to start watching less. I don't think it's a good idea to allow them to stare at it like that.

Sweet kisses to baby Diya,
Vindhya

hi vindhya,
my son yash also watches TV. all at home are amused coz hes just arnd 50 days old.but he does blink from time to time. but dont think its good to get them used to it at such a young age coz their eyes are still relatively weak. even their vision is not proper i believe. pls do post abt how u r thinking abt tackling this problem. love to niya n hope ur doing fine.

Subject:  Video for babies?

Hi Radhi,

Thanks for your reply, my husband finds it amusing it too.

It's hard to tackle this as we watch a lot of TV. So, I am planning to cut down on it and may be, get a video that is exclusively made for babies. I am not sure if we can get it, but I'll try. Hope Yash gets used to his toys rather that watching TV.

Love to baby Yash,
Vindhya

Diaper Service Provider,Bangalore
Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.

Thanks in advance
