how about discussing only the advantages of a joint family.Am sure we all will have lot to say about this.But lets keep the disadvantages out ( we can start another topic for that later).

From the posts i've read it seems that most of us have more trouble and problems than advantages... ;^)

However, with all I've gone through in my marriage I can be and am grateful that my inlaws have taught me about a different culture. So to that advantage I am appreciative towards my in-laws.

I am Irish and Cherokee while my husband is Apache and Mexican. our ways are very different but in some ways the same. We all live in the white man's culture and it's a struggle for all sometimes. My husband has different ways of worship than I but I respect his very much and follow as close as I can.

As far my in-laws they chose the white ways and that is another problem in the family that arised since husband went back to his roots. So I guess there are advantages and struggles with all in the long run with joint families.

I do feel fortunate to have married into a different culture and to love a man that has respect for who he is and from where he comes.

Hope this helps others and we can see that there are sometimes possitives with the negatives.
