Joint Family:moving out from a joint family

I am the bread winner of my family. i got married 3 months back. i have a younger sister unmarried. i tried to make the joint family thing work but couldn't. Is it okay to move myself n my wife to a separate place? My mom is possessive and obsessed with me and hence she doesn't like me n my wife getting together or doing any activity together. She has started to behave very crazy and sometimes irritating and insanely manner. I feel we should move out... for atleast now... please advice
